A classic message for the times, don't you think?
KEEPERS OF THE DREAM
c2017 Brian Beecher
Once a southern preacher Told us that he had a dream That we’d live in peace and harmony No matter what race or creed
Now all have something to say To the establishment You’ll be getting an earful Regarding our hopes and wants
In two thousand eight we heard that Change is supposed to occur This is what was largely promised But what was said fell on deaf ears
The rich are getting richer While the poor are sinking fast With efforts to obliterate What’s left of the middle class
Karma, karma, karma It will catch up to them one day We can’t stay silent forever Time for us to have our say
Keepers of the dream Keepers of the dream It’s time that they are listened to The keepers of the dream
They are gathering and taking Knowledge and planting seeds Come the day that we hear all voices We shall overcome the powers’ greed
They are trying to be one chorus Singing in unison But while their hands are tied they can’t reach out To get anything wishful done Keepers of the dream
In two thousand eleven At a park in N Y C Many folks gathered to occupy Standing up for what they believe Then there were shouts of “black lives matter” Then there were chants of "I can’t breathe” Then there were women marching around the globe Creating another field of dreams
Hear them as uniquely distinct voices That all have a role to play In challenging the status quo That has long since had its day
Keepers of the dream Keepers of the dream It’s time that they are listened to The keepers of the dream
They are gathering and taking Knowledge and planting seeds Come the day that we hear all voices We shall overcome the powers’ greed
They are trying to be one chorus Singing in unison But while their hands are tied they can’t reach out To get anything wishful done Keepers of the dream

You sure have this down! I love songs that inspire me and yours surely does. Karma will happen eventually. Nice song!

Funny thing about karma. I don't recall ever hearing that word until we got bogged down in Vietnam. Now it is part of our language.

Really nailed this in my opinion. I agree and could see everything you mentioned. Great lyric.

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
