I am doing FAWM again this year and I am going to use this one thread to post the songs I do (if they are at least OK!!). I am doing some videos this year using powerdirector 14 that I bought in 2015 for fawm 2016 -- but I never used. The videos will be one take and no editing, because I don't have time during FAWM. maybe in March!
some things are habits some are passing fancies others are bumps in the road some are a long way through a valley
but I'm addicted to you you make old things new you shine a light where there was only night
Note: a skirmish is where you are given a title/theme and you write/record a song in an hour (Of course, it took an extra hour to do all the video processing -- I'm a newbie.
Calvin: Thanks for stopping by and giving it a view!!
Martin: Thanks for the watch. Funny you should mention that picture. My wife and daughter put up some album covers on the wall. It's a madonna album. Before I did my 2nd video I rearranged them so madonna wasn't visible. Nothing against her, just don't want that pic in my video. Probably keep re-arranging so there is a different one every time!
-------------------------------------------------------------- FAWM #2: Another 1 hour skirmish. Took 40 minutes to write and record (light on lyrics!) and then an hour+ to do all the video shenanigans. seem to have turned off one video too soon, looks weird. Need to work on location, but that'll be for next time.
I at least remembered to change outfits for one track!
Nice "skirmish" given the time constraints. The added burden of video has to be a major distraction. I always attempt to listen to the music without having to watch anything... but this option was not available.
Reminded me a bit of Ricky Skaggs... but I'll bet you've been told that before, LOL!
Dave: Thansk for watching and listening. It should be just as easy to take video as it is to just record -- but it isn't. There is an added level of distraction that is tough to get by.
Unfortunately I have to go down to florida for ~10 days to help settle all of my father's affairs. He passed away in late January and now it is time to deal with lawyers and accountants, clearing out his place and stuff like that. Of course, he was super organized and will make it easy for me and my brother. But there will be a good memorial service which should be uplifting. He had a great 30 year career at Lynbrook NY High School and then 25+ years of a great retirement. I can only hope that I can do so well.
I won't have any instruments with me. Maybe I will write some words here and there and get to do some listening and commenting.
But I will leave you with my "wall" song/video. It was another skirmish, so I had to leave my boo-boos in there! __________________________________________________________
I've been enjoying these short and sweet songs. I hope you take the time to go back to them, when time allows, and flesh them out.
Choose Love is a timely topic. "Truth has been replaced by lies" made me laugh because now we have "alternative truths" to wade through as well as flat out lies.
The wall made me laugh too. I've been shaking my head a lot lately. What a world!
