My wife and I tried out a new church yesterday and the teaching was outstanding. It gave me the inspiration for this tune based on the sermon, "Don't Fear Tomorrow." Jesus Prays © 2017 Steven M. Biederman https://soundcloud.com/user-586765351/jesus-praysV1 Twelve men went out on the water The lake was placid and calm Experienced men; fishermen When the lake brewed up a storm They'd seen Jesus head for the mountain He had stayed behind to pray With the the tempest now upon them They wondered about their fate V2 The waves beat up against them The boat almost capsized Saw a ghost walk on the water Right before their eyes The men were afraid as you could imagine “Take courage! It is I.” Said the voice of the ghost, I am Jesus Peter felt his fear subside [Chorus Peter steps from the boat, steps out on faith But sinks as his faith goes astray A hand reaches down to save him As Jesus prays v3 She looked tired and old from the cancer And they knew it wouldn't be long He didn't know how he'd go on without her As the stereo played their song It had been 50 years of laughter and tears It had been one heck of a ride But it was at the end when the voice came to him And he felt his fear subside [Chorus] And when she finally leaves him When all hope has faded away A hand reaches down to save him As Jesus prays [Bridge] We all go through storms, unexpected or long How could a loving God allow such suffering But we're not the only ones He was led as a lamb to the slaughter As a lamb before it's shearers is quiet Then they beat him with scorn, made a crown of thorns Pressed it on his forehead tight They said he was the messiah But later said "He's a fraud." Crucified between two criminals The innocent lamb of God Just before He gave up his spirit Three days before he rose from the grave Father please forgive them Jesus prays Now the moral of this story What this song is trying to say Is when we're at our darkest hour Jesus prays [Tag] Je...sus...Prays

Hey Stevie, Yeah, that's got a nice tone and texture, and message. Great storytelling in a classic mode. The lyrics cleverly set themselves up for the hook. That middle8/bridge is awesome, I was wondering how you'd bring it back, but you did so real smoothly. A really listenable gospel song without the "preachy" thing. cheers, niteshift PS - Ya got your voice back.

Thomas Aquinas said "Preach the Gospel constantly...When necessary, use words." I try to live by that axiom in my life. And yeah, the voice is back just in time. I'm part of a concert at a Christian night club this Saturday night. Stevie
