The nominations can begin now...
This is for those of you who post lyrics and songs in the "critiquing" Forums, which I don't visit very often, so I'm counting on those who do to help me out just a tad and spread the word.
There will be no winner or runner-up, 'cause Stan would hate that whole concept!
But Stan has been on my mind lately...So here goes:
Tampa Stan was one of the most encouraging critiquers, and always signed off with "Big Guy Hug".
For nominations, from those who visit those Forums, who is the critiquer who is consistently helping you to become better at your craft?
This is not a Popularity Contest:-)....This is just a way to say "thanks" and send a BIG GUY HUG to someone who took the time to critique something of yours....
BIG GUY HUG, Stan....Miss ya!!!!

Kristi McKeever
what I like about Kristi is that she offers suggested directions, rather than offering replacement lyrics, (which is something I am very guilty of doing), and she never gets tired of helping.

Midnite, Just for the sake of clarification.. This is a public nomination process at this point? Final votes will be via PM (I'm hoping..).. ? How many times must a name be mentioned to be "nominated" --once, or seconded? If I've nominated one, can I second a different JPF member (and if I can "second" another, how many folks am I allowed to second?).. These are questions that occur to me by thinking about your average informal nomination processes involving a room of people who yell out "I second that!" kinda thing.. Just thought I'd get your head spinning, LOL..sorry.. Mike

Hey Mike, good question. No keeping track of tallies at all. I just it would be fun for folks to publicly acknowledge someone who takes the time and certainly hope that no one gets offended for not being mentioned.

Midnite That clarifies things. Though how you word things could lead to some confusion with some folks in that you call it an awards and talk about a nomination process (but then say that there will be "no winners") and that it's all about acknowledging some folks for being generous with their time and energy. Well I'm very glad I am publicly acknowledging that Eddie is very helpful on the MP3 forums, and think sometimes he's overlooked. And kudos to Kristi and Lisa as well, though I hang out in the MP3 forums most, but know you both to be indeed very helpful and think the world of you both. I'd like to add that Ricki Bellos has been very generous with her time, with many folks on the MP3 board, myself included.. Mike

I miss Stan a lot too. I preferred our interactions here on JPF to some of the people I actually work with.. LOL! With that I'd like to throw Michael Zaneski's name in the hat as my nomination. I have no doubt Stan would approve. Peace, Dave

Oh hey...thank you, Roy! What a nice thing to do and say! I really appreciate that. I think a “massive big thank you” is in order! (...hope to hear that song soon...) And Mike Z, thank you too for that. Right back atcha...your detailed crits always get my mind delving deeper... Midnite, Tampa Stan is greatly missed...I’m going to treat this thread as a “pay it forward” type of thread: I come and go, but Mike LeBlanc, Travis David & Jim Colyer are always very supportive over on the Lyric Board....w/newbies and all....and they keep that less-traveled terrain hoppin'....consistently acknowledging the writing in the lyrics. And that's something.
A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be. -- Abraham Maslow, American Psychologist
