I posted a video on you tube about six weeks ago with this track. I wanted to show the calm after a wind storm and express that musically. But I did not get an opinion on the instrumental itself.
I would appreciate some thoughts and if other members here do instrumentals.

Matt

Yeah, I can hear this in a video Matt. Very useable. Though I’m not feeling Fall leaves. Of course when I think of Fall leaves, I think of the song “The Autumn Leaves”and tinklin' keys...

Good luck with it.

Best, John smile

This music puts me in mind of the sun coming up after the rain, rather than fall leaves, but I can see this (or parts of it) being used in a video. It could be my headphones, but I would bring the bass down a touch in parts where instrument comes in. Enjoyed the listen Matt. I'm more of a lyric critiquer than music, or I would add more. Good luck with it man.

Thanks John and L.James.

I would like to bring influences in to instrumentals to give versatility. Soundtrack music has always conventionally been more new age to me. Thick bass with synth strings. But the scene has picked up since then. The theme song from Radiohead for the television series House was over a decade ago.

I would like to kick out of first gear and learn more about the soundtrack medium.
I would like to work with people in that medium with my material.

Hey R&M the theme to Dr House was Massive Attack by Teardrop : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovU4ESybz-U cool theme. It was interesting how the theme was improved from the first season. Starting season 2 it was more guitar driven with rhythmic improvement on the kick & bass.

Yes, all genres of music are used today.

Best, John smile

Hi Matt:

Like John, I'm not feeling "Fall Leaves" with this... but I have not seen the video. To me, the drums feel mechanical (not played with "reckless rock abandon.")LOL! You are headed in the right direction and this composition has a ton of potential. Grind away, my friend. You'll nail this one.

All the best, ----Dave

This had a nice build from beginning to end and with the continuous bass line, it had a trance music feel to it. Probably too heavy for that. Also, whatever that was that came in at 1:45-2:13 felt a little off to me? I didn't get an "autumn leaves" feel from it either, maybe because it had such a heavy electronic presence, nothing that would be expressing anything about the natural world. For me, it conjured up more of an urban wasteland scene, but not a particularly calm one.

You never know what your music will put in the mind of the listener! grin

I probably should look for something more ethereal and acoustic for nature recordings. Soundtracks and instrumentals have always seemed more new age and symphonic to me with maybe some acoustic backdrops. But I would like to learn more about the more dissonant forms and what reflects mood. I am looking more in to these nature cd's and would appreciate what the members like and also what is trendy in it. PM me with that too.
There seems to be a lot of urban and house influences infused in to todays soundtracks also.

Soundtracks have seemed to open up a whole new creative void.
