A bit of sex, cars, and rock n roll. John My Baby Drives Too Fast [v1] She's got a thirst for speed that she can't quench. Something 'bout that girl, really turns my wrench. I'm looking for the perfect pair, explosive mix of fuel and air, my baby drives too fast, my baby drives too fast, my baby drives too fast, but I don't care. [v2] She wipes a smear of grease across her face. Licks her fingers, tells me that she likes the taste. Spits it out, and starts to swear, her engine's hot, her road is bare My baby drives too fast, my baby drives too fast, my baby drives too fast but I don't care. [bridge] Four stroke engines, pushrods and pistons, are what that girl understands, uh huh I don't know if I'm coming or going, all I know is I'm in her hands. [v3] The way she grabs the stick shift makes me blush. Slapped back against the headrest, I feel the rush. She speeds up to get me there, I run my fingers through her hair. My baby drives too fast my baby drives too fast, my baby drives too fast but I don't care. [bridge] Four stroke engines, pushrods and pistons, are what that girl understands, uh huh I don't know if I'm coming or going, all I know is I'm in her hands. [outtro] My baby drives too fast but I don't care (4X) John Smyth

This is awesome, John! Sex, cars and rock n roll...Don't get much better than that. Well written lyrically, really keeps the theme going throughout. A real crowdpleaser, I'm guessin. Well done.

Hi John,
Nice Radar Love/Golden Earring vibe; I especially love the guitar work and solos.
Great work!

Thanks for the comments and listens.
I can't take credit for those kick-ass guitars, or the bass, or the drums. Russ Lawton on drums, Colin McCaffrey on the other instruments (he's a ridiculously good musician and producer). My song, my arrangement, my vocals.
This is part of a recording project we are working on. The vocals are from the original scratch track and will be done in January.
Yeah, definitely a Radar Love kind of vibe Michael.

V,
Definitely sounds like an early 70's rock song. I liked out the quick flowing lyrics fit nicely with the uptempo beat. I do think on the repeat line of three "My baby drives too fast," you might experiment there and just do it twice, maybe partially half-timing the 2nd repeat:
My baby drives too fast, My--ba--a--aby drives,too fast......but I don't care!
You could also bring up the lead guitar solo a little more and forward IMO.
Great song V, I enjoyed it!

Eddie, thanks for the listen! I'm glad you like it! You know, I experimented with a few different variations of the "my baby drives too fast" endings to each verse, and in the end, the triplet sounded more natural fo my ear. I agree, the mix not right on those guitars yet. The fills need to be a little more pronounced, and the solo needs to be pushed. This is a rough mix. We'll be twisting knobs once the final vocals get done.
Tammy, yeah... so good to see all of my muse friends here! But especially you, my "once upon a time" friend! Stay warm! It's getting cold up this way.
