We finished the final tweaks on this just before Thanksgiving and believe it is ready to pitch. It seems appropriate because it reaffirms how every day is something to be thankful for. I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving with your families! Best, Marvin http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13478355BROKEN GLASS They've shared a life he can't remember They've shared a life she can't forget She's the stranger in the mirror Who combs his hair and helps him dress They started young raisin' a family Seldom took time for themselves Had a closeness most can only dream Through rich or poor, sickness and health Before his memory of their history Was broken like a mirror into pieces of their past Like broken glass He used to joke I don't remember squat She'd just say You work too hard Now lost among his shattered thoughts He still holds her in his arms Before his memory of their history Was broken like a mirror into pieces of their past Like broken glass He'll always be - the husband that she loves She'll always see - the father that he was Before his memory of their history Was broken like a mirror into pieces of their past Like broken glass

Excellent work ... the lyrics work well, telling the story without being overly sentimental, the recording is first rate and I love the guitar playing in particular. The chorus has some interesting chord changes that hold the listener's interest.

Hi Marvin:
This one sure tells a story needed so urgently today. Like all your songs, it tells the story well. Sad but true. I wish you success with this one... realizing it may be too true for today's producers and publishers who seem intent on mindless songs for mindless people.
I'm hoping to hear this one on the airwaves soon and that you prove me wrong. It is a wonderful song, my friend.

I have to agree with the other two comments. You have captured this topic beautifully. Good luck with it.

Hi Marvin, What's NOT to love about TOP QUALITY---good work. I especially liked this part...... He’ll always be - the husband that she loves She’ll always see - the father that he was ......and the quivering guitar :-) Calvin http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewart

Our songs mature with us. I can hear Gary Allen singing this.

Great song man. It's a subject near and dear to my heart. Thanks so much for this. I really can't offer much up for lyrical suggestion. It's just right.

Thanks everyone for listening, and for taking time to comment. I also believe our songwriting matures as we mature (a nice way to say getting older). Gary Allen would be a good fit, as would so many other mature country artists, but finding one with the courage to sing something with meaning will be a challenge. Thanks again my friends Kevin, Dave, Douglas, Iggy, Calvin, Jim and John.
Best, Marvin

Thanks Tom, I appreciate it very much. Right now Nashville is pretty much slowing down for the holidays, so hopefully when artists start recording again in the spring we can find a home for this one. Thanks again!

A well told but sad story, the truth of which gets closer every day. Very relatable. Well done.

Thanks Ricki and Eddie. It is scary that all of us face this possibility, but hopefully someday that will change.

I got this email from my publisher this morning regarding this song, and thought I would share it:
Marvin, Regarding "Broken Glass", I had a voice msg from Rick Schweinsburg yesterday and he loves the song! He said they have just signed Ricky Lee Phelps from the Kentucky HeadHunters and he is going to play it for him. That would be a deviation from the Kentucky HeadHunters style in my opinion, but since this is a solo project, not a Ky Headhunters project, I think it could work. He also said the song really fits the RadioGC format. Glad you brought RadioGC to my attention Marvin!

Hi, Marvin,
The lyrics, sound and production are exceptional. I'm particularly enamored by the verses--and the opening two lines are wonderful. That said, as a listener, you lose me bit is on the chorus. Love the melody on the first line and a half, but, for me, it loses something--I don't know, momentum, maybe--as you move into "pieces of their past" and thereon. Probably just me, but thought I'd provide the feedback for what it's worth.

I put this same post under the "Success" forum, but thought I would put it here also since both of these songs have been in the "MP3 Feedback" column as well: Yesterday was a pretty good day! I received two emails that were pretty great. This email was from Pandora: Dear Marvin, We are excited to let you know that your submission of "Broken Glass" has been approved! Congratulations! We'll reach out to you again when this submission has been added to the Music Genome Project and begins playing on Pandora. The Pandora Curation Team https://soundcloud.com/marvinadcock/broken-glassThis email was from my publisher: Good Morning Marvin, Just wanted to let you know that I was contacted yesterday by the producer of an artist by the name of Matt Bonnacci, and he is wanting to cut "You Don't Feel The Rain". Matt is from Pittsburgh, 23 years old and has a good following in the Northeast. They have already begun production on his project. He has a stage name, but for the life of me I can't remember what his producer said it was, but I'll get that information. His producer told me when I started pitching songs for his project a few months ago, that he is like a Chris Young, meets Randy Houser meets Toby Keith. I'm excited about the cut! Have a great day! I received an email that my song "Broken Glass" has been added to Pandora. This is the link to the Pandora radio station that now has several of my songs in rotation. I hope those of you who listen to Pandora will bookmark it and listen now and then. Thanks! https://www.pandora.com/station/play/3381717874721007185
