https://www.reverbnation.com/stevefurbish/song/18169140-hot-rod-joe Whatever happened to Hot Rod Joe Cruisin the town in his GTO Now He's stuck in traffic with no place to go Listening to talk radio
If He closes his eyes he will fall fast asleep In the leather soft comfort of his new Jeep And dream of the dreams that he just couldn't keep When he was a younger man
He used to hear the truth in a Neal Young song He is listening still but the truth is gone Alive in a world where he just don't belong He can see the road but he just can't Get back home
Lakota shaman burning his sage It's a cleansing act from an ancient age Hears his grandfather's voice in the winds that rage As he sits looking up at the condos
If he closes his eyes he can still see the sun The bright flash smoke of a white man's gun ten thousand buffalo on the run being shot from the back of a trainHe used to hear the truth in his grandmother's song He is listening still but the truth is gone Alive in a world where he just don't belong He can see the road but he just can't Get back home We're all sailing on the same damn boat never certain if we're gonna sink or float I've been a shaman with visions of my own I've been hot rod Johnny Lookin' for a home Stood outside in the cold last night Fell on my knees in the full moonlight Thanked the lord for my visions, my visions and my sight.[/font]

Stevie, been awhile
...outstanding song.
I would suggest a title change... "He Just Can't Get Back Home"

This one could "go viral"... Mr. Furbish:
A super write with a Neal Young vibe... and your vocal is certainly "no slouch" my friend. Love the song and its story. Ten!

Very meaty lyrics delivered in the manner they deserve. That means very nicely done. I'd like to see a video with this one. Dave

WOW Dave Rice that's a great compliment. I'm happy if my songs touch one person but I'd take viral with a big smile.

You have a great sound, Steve. I enjoyed my listen. The title puts more importance on Hot Rod Joe than the verses would suggest. It seems to me it's really about "you/he", the singer and how he Can't Get Home". That's the part I'll remember as a listener anyway. Just a thought. Well done.

Hi,
I like the story and the sincere delivery of a very well written nostalgic lyric...Your vocals really are perfect for the story...
