Hey All, Came across Somewhere Over the Rainbow the other day. I remember it from classes in composition and I believe it's still being used today for that purpose. The lesson was in how to arrange a track, given a simple melody line and the fit between that melody line and the backing. Then it can be brought up a notch simply because of the chording and transitions used originally. The "perfect" song ? Perhaps, or perhaps not, but certainly a solid instruction in composition. Here's Tommy Emmanuel's version which you'll see in the master classes he does..... I don't even think I can count the transitions to the bar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cHeNscKZN0So, put up another version you may have heard, or another track which has the same simplicity and complexity at the same time. Can it be beaten as a learning piece in composition ? cheers, niteshift

I did a simple instrumental cover of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" for a Taxi listing at one point. It's a great song to play. Love the movie too! http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.php?artist=kolstad
