My latest song for your perusal and critique ... all comments are appreciated and thanks to those who listen!!

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13440609

When I was young I use to stay out all night ...

Used to stay out til the morning light ...

But I don't do that no more

Yeah I don't do that no more

Lord I don't do that no more ... yeah don't do that no more!

I used to drink liquor bout a gallon a day...

I used to drink liquor til my blues went away ...

But I don't do that no more

Yeah I don't do that no more

Lord I don't do that no more ... yeah don't do that no more!

I used to smoke weed from morning til night ...

I used to smoke weed to make my head feel right ...

But I don't do that no more

Yeah I don't do that no more

Lord I don't do that no more ... yeah don't do that no more!

I used to spend money like it was going out of style ...

I used to spend money like I was high profile ...

But I don't do that no more

Yeah I don't do that no more

Lord I don't do that no more ... yeah don't do that no more!

I used to run around with every girl in town ...

I used to chase the women didn't ever turn one down ...

But I don't do that no more

Yeah I don't do that no more

Lord I don't do that no more ... yeah don't do that no more!

I don't know Jimmy, after 5 verses of what you don't do any more, I was hoping for something that you DO do, or some reason why you don't do those things. It's not a long song but felt like it because there was no melodic or lyric change. Maybe instead of repeating "I don't do that no more" 4 times at the end of each verse, somewhere in there you can give a 1 or 2 liner about why not, or what you're doing as a substitute. Just a thought.

Hey Jimmy,
this one is really catchy. I enjoyed listening. A song about all those fun things in life that you don't do anymore. Cool, but in a way sad.

All the best
Robert

Hello Jimmy. Well met. I like the whole idea of this song and what it means when we get older and how we can't do what we once could. Ricki had it right though IMO that we might need a reason as to why we don't do that no more. This one is almost there and overall I liked it. smile

Hello Riki ... thanks for listening and I appreciate your advice ... I came up with the music for this and didn't spend a lot of time with the lyrics ... just kinda went with my first thoughts.

Hey Rob ... thanks for listening and commenting ... I really enjoyed playing and singing this song but didn't realize until afterwards that it did sound kinda sad for me ... oh well!

Yeah, it does have a JJ vibe...and that's always good.

Heck man, a gallon of liquor a day and still around -- amazing smile

Cool song...nice and engaging. Sticks with you.

The older we get the more we can add to the list!

We enjoyed it.

Nice upbeat tune, Jimmy! Reminded me of The Rolling Stones. I suppose we have all changed for the better.

Well Jimmy

Its a nice enough little ditty..Sounds like he really misses all the fun he used to have....Kinda sounds like a born again Christian thing one might hear in church..Of course I havent been to church in umm like 50 years or more so what would I know anyway....Its just not to me-a fun song-its reflective and kind of morose i.e. those were the good old days..Kind of a Burl Ives song in my opinion.....So you did manage to channel your inner Burl Ives....That was successful.......Thanks for posting it.......

Thanks for the chuckle Tom ... I don't think I've ever been compared to Burl Ives but I'll take it and I've been in kind of a morose funk lately which has definitely shown up in my song writing ... I think I need a drink!
