Here's a little folky acoustic tune I've been gnawin at.
This is the rewrite, the original is below. Would love an opinion on the two.
thanks and peace
Lost in Texas Copyright 2016 OpenMikeMusic
I go a lot of places in my mind I troll a lotta roads that I can’t unwind. Sometimes it’s dark so I feel my way. Depends on how I feel that day.
Searching for an exit but the toll is just too high.
Still I’m lost in Texas and I never left my mind
I’ve seen things no child should see, and it almost was the death of me, but behind these walls I chose to fight, this holy war inside my mind.
I’m running on empty and only half way there.
Still I’m lost in Texas, no exits anywhere.
I go a lot of places in my mind I need that space between yours and mine. Even lost on this winding Texas road, I’m never really far from home
Driving from the world outside, inside this lonely state.
I may be lost in Texas, But it’s the only place
Where I will find the exit that takes me home this time.
Still, I’m lost in Texas and I never left my mind

I go a lot of places in my mind I look for things that I hope I’ll find. Sometimes it’s dark, gotta feel my way. Depends on how I feel that day.
I’m looking for an exit But there’s no door in sight.
I’m feeling lost in Texas And I haven’t left my mind
I’ve seen things no child should see It tried to get the best of me. So I control the space in which I give, It’s how all those inside would live.
I’m looking for some justice But I can only find revenge
Still I’m lost in Texas on a road that has no end.
I go a lot of places in my mind I’ve seen what lies on the other side. I’ve danced with the daughter of the devil himself Now I choose to live inside myself.
Looking at the world outside, from high up in the air
I’m lost somewhere in Texas and not going anywhere.
I’m looking for an exit But there’s no door in sight.
I’m feeling lost in Texas And I haven’t left my mind

Texas is a big state, but there's no reason to be lost.
January, 1986 - Texas Chester and I made a Grand Tour of Texas during the state's Sesquicentennial. We unloaded the truck near Graceland in Memphis. It was a cold night, and Graceland was lit up. The Space Shuttle Challenger was the major news story. Following the Red River Valley, we first heard of the explosion in Burkburnette. I was sitting in the truck and as soon as it came on the radio, I knew something was wrong. It was on to Fort Worth, down I-35 to Waco, Austin and San Antonio. We took I-10 over to Houston. There was much sympathy for the Shuttle crew.

Sad and bittersweet Mike,
So real to so many even if they can't come to terms!
I think it's great!

Thanks Geneva,
I actually did a rewrite and was gonna replace. But I think I'll just add it TO the original.I would love your opinion on the two as there is a slight thematic shift.
Appreciate ya!
