Greetings Folks,

This song has been 2 years in the making. You guys know how it is when you are wearing all of the hats.

I'm using Presonus Studio One 2.0 and have laid all tracks via my keyboard, some loops, and live flute and vocal scat.

I'm not done yet. There are still some more tweeks for this more than 40 track song to perform. But I'd appreciate your feed back, comments and suggestions.

I am working on the orchestral score for this. It will be a non-traditional stage setting... still working on that, but definitely utilizing woodwinds and brass.

You can now find me on soundcloud. Can’t Stop this has been placed under the genre: Soundtrack. It is my dream to have this song placed in a feature length film and a car commercial and be nominated for a Grammy. The folks who can make this happen will be looking for comments from you I'm sure. So, please stop by, take a listen and leave your comments. You can also download it and it will play at a much higher bit-rate 320 kbps. Thank you in advance. Blessings!

A cool groove going there Latteta! It's definitely ripe for film. Consider making a condensed 2-3 minute version for submitting to film opportunities. Good luck with it!

Thank you John, that's a great idea. I will definitely get working on that shorter version.

Hey Latteta,

I've found that many clients have a short attention span. They'll listen to the first minute or two (if you’re lucky). And a lot of really good stuff is further along in this track, which the client may never hear. When you submit the short version to an opportunity, you can mention the full version as well.

I really got into the rhythm and groove of this Letteta, especially when the flute and then the vocals kicked in. And because of all that was going on, it held my interest all the way through. Nice build up to the end as well. Do you have a place where you can perform this live? That would be an awesome show. Really enjoyed my listen.

John, this is an excellent idea! I remember listening to a beer commercial using Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. It was considerably shorter yet perfect. The shortened arrangement captured all of the excitement of the piece and left nothing out. I'm working it out in my mind and will post the shorter arrangement soon. Thanks again my friend. I am grateful and appreciative of your feedback.

Wow! Thank you Ricki for taking the time to respond. So glad you experienced this song with such a positive result.

I had thought about how I would perform it with tracks. This went on for two years and then just recently the light bulb went off with arranging this 43 plus tracks for orchestra. And then, how was I gonna duplicate the sound of several loops, two kit drums and so on. Then it came to me to use orchestral instruments such as Tuba doubled with either Baritone Sax and/or Contrabass Bassoon for the intro bass line. I'm using 5 different set of string sounds, coming in at different sections... use the woodwinds and brass. There was still the problem of the percussion duplication. Ha! I remembered visualizing The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and seeing a marching band strut down 5th Avenue or is it Broadway... anyways... playing this song. And then... I saw two performances. One on stage at the Grammy's with full orchestra and Marching Band (coming down the isles), and choreography like never before, showcasing Salsa, Hip-Hop, Ballroom and so many others including Belly Dance. And then the biggest vision I have is the Super Bowl half time performance with majorettes and other onstage dancers performing the dances.

I feel this is gonna be performed on either one or both of these events. I would just play flute and vocal scat. I've already added the piano part to the score and even printed it out for a friend.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback!!

Hey Latetta,

Yep, it's sure got all the elements there, and love that vocal scat.I listened all the way through..... twice.... smile

My only comment would be now it's time to settle on an arrangement, which I see will involve an orchestra.

There's so many ways this piece can go, but I'd suggest on cutting the drums back at times, to give it some peaks and troughs. I don't think it would interrupt the flow. Likewise the bells and be brought in and out, as they at times can be distracting.

You have your 3 musical themes, and a digital orchestra at your fingertips, so I'll be real interested in how it comes along.

I'm just try to think of a similar song ( with orchestra ) to use as a guide/feedback. This might give you some ideas ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUK__OnMosc not in the same vein, but the orchestration is spot on in regard to the song.

Good luck ! There's a lot of ideas there just waiting to come out ! smile

cheers, niteshift

OMG Tom... wowzers! Thank you. Thank you. Your feedback... man oh man. What can I say? Yes, please contact your people. I am currently working on a commercial mix... about 3:40 which was an excellent idea given to me by John Lawrence. Now I can get it played on the radio. Both my email and phone are on my website: http://www.latteta.com/ Wow, my man I am so grateful for your support and feedback. Check back tomorrow evening for the commercial mix. Thanks again!

Wow niteshift! Thank you so much for taking the time to listen... OMG and twice. Wowzers. I am deeply touched!! There is much that you have given in suggestions and I want to digest them all. So very helpful. I will be back later on to share what I've decided. I see at least three arrangements: #1 a performance stage for the Grammy's, #2 staged for the Super Bowl, #3 staged for Dancing With The Stars (shorter version and smaller ensemble). Each of these performances will incorporate dance choreography from different styles, including Salsa, Fox Trot, Paso Doble, Hip Hop, Tap, Belly Dance and many more.

Yep, a lot to think about. And I am most grateful for your support and your tremendous feedback and energy.
