Just a song about getting away from it all. https://90dbband.bandcamp.com/track/runRun ©2016 Robert Randall Burke Somewhere in this world There's a place for you and me Somewhere where the sun shines Somewhere we can be free Let the devil take this city And I'll take you to the sea We'll find a little island there Just for you and me Let's run Run, run, run, run, run. Darkness closin' round me I could hardly see If you hadn't found me Who knows where I would be? I can see another country When I look into your eyes Somewhere I want to be And it made me realize... We gotta run, Run,run, run, run, run. There's a shadow on this place That's blocking out the sun Ain't nothin' else to do Babe, we gotta run. Let's run Run, run, run, run, run.

A beautiful write and a touching performance. Especially liked the chorus, very cool. Has that indelible Springsteen feel to it.

Getaway songs appeal more and more to us...we've been writing them also. Sell out, buy a motorhome and head out for a LONG time.
This is obviously a fine lyric and melody. What takes it over the top is your vocal and the supporting arrangement. You have a voice that deserves to be out front as in this mix. The mix allows every track to breath and have it's place.
Most excellent.

Hi Bob:
I experienced a Springsteen "vibe" to this one, too! A really beautiful "getaway" song and your performance and production are perfect. Enjoyed so much! ----Dave

J & B,
Thanks for the kind remarks. I was actually going for a Phil Spector type of arrangement on this one. It's got 4 guitars, three pianos, etc.
Regards,
Bob

YO 90!! First one I've listened to of y'all's... I like it!! Right of the bat, it reminded me of a melody by one of my all time faves, Elton John, that's a good thing. Nice song. :)))) Scotty

I like the song Robert. I think you could work on "Run, run, run, run, run". With more accents on the beats as it's an important part of the song. Also, with this in mind, you could change the Title to "Run run run run run".

It's a pleasant tune. The lyrics are heavily abstracted and broadly metaphorical. You reference islands and things but there wasn't anything in the lyrics that evoked in me the sense that I was seeing or smelling a rose...or something. Because of that I felt a little sidelined and never felt drawn far enough into the lyrical narrative. For me...the song was carried on a pleasing melody and anchored by the run run run part. One man's opinion. Enjoyed the listen.

An overall nice feel to this one, Robert. Like a kinder, gentler Springsteen. Ricki

Hi Bob, Nice production, sweet vocals, and a great lyric. I love how the verses give way effortlessly to the simple chorus, which is THAT much more effective for its simplicity. Good tempo choice (80-ish BPM) to not rush this particular "run" song--most clock in over 140 BPM, but in this one, the singer is talking calmly and gently to his sweetheart, and the calm pace of the music is perfect. Love it. Mike

I like this one. You've got a real hook in that "Let's run Run, run, run, run, run" chorus. Sounds like it could have been a hit to me.
