Don't know why, but Stan Good crossed my mind this morning. This afternoon, a lyric I normally would not fool with happened along. RIP Stan, and, best wishes to your son, wherever he may be.
Do What He Does © FNF 6/8/2016
Always laughing When we play Don't know why he Talks that way
No intentions In his voice Born unto him Without choice
But to do what he does Swing the way he swings Throw the way she throws We tried real hard to change those things It didn't work becuz He must do what he does
I first met him He was eight Had three brothers All were great
So athletic Daddy's boys Think he's goofy Dolls for toys
Gotta do what he does Swing the way he swings Throw the way she throws We tried real hard to change those things It didn't work becuz He must do what he does
The high school star was asked to change a kid Who showed him not all boys are made the same The night I got the news, I pitched a fit Just eighteen years had passed, he'd died of aids
But he has to do what he does Swing the way he swings Throw the way she throws We tried real hard to change those things It didn't work becuz He must do what he does

Yes. Oh yeah. Miss his homie turns of phrases, hearing about his clock business, and, of course, the old "Pink Palace" where he lived. AND, his heavy-on-the-words lyrics.
Heck, I'm trying to recall how he referred to his wife. I'm thinking he used a French title before her name. Or, maybe it was just the title, no name.

I think it was “La Femme”? Stan was great...so much fun!! I miss him. And yeah, he brought such a great energy to the forum!
As far as your lyric...I think it’s very concisely written. The hook is very catchy. Has a nice ring to it. In the chorus, at first I didn't get the "throw the way she throws"...I do now (I think), but there might be a better line to match the first two really singable ones? Just a thought.
I was saddened by the turn of events in the bridge, that last line. And that's fine to be sad, but it brings in a whole new issue. Would the final chorus be in past tense then? This is a creative choice, of course, but I’ll mention it....if he’s still alive, that sense of him “doing what he does” can still be celebrated. Anyway, just my two cents...!

THAT'S it, La Femme! Thanks.
Your observation is a good one. I pondered it. After his death, I could have changed the ch to reflect the passing, but decided that the bigger issue in this particular context was the nature of the "every man" aspect, as regards being born with a predilection toward same-sex relationships. I'm sure there are those who would perceive this as a reflection on all boys who are inclined to gravitate toward those things most consider feminine. That is not my intent.
"..throw the way she throws"...I do now (I think)
I used "she" here, in an effort to make the point obvious. When I was eight, or so, and older boy, referring to a friend of mine, said, "You throw like a girl." I don't recall anything else--hurt feelings, or whatever.
Anyway, this is sort of "rambled," but, I opted to leave the ch unchanged, since there are plenty of boys it still applies to.
Thanks for taking the time to review this, Kristi.

A sad one Francis as a suggestion perhaps not a full frontal so to speak on the aids line and let him go gently? A poignant write dear fellow. Mr.T

Thanks, TouchDown...or is that TerraDactyl? Curious how you labored over the one line that gave me pause. Ultimately, I went with what happened, but I could easily change it to the alternate, which was:
The high school star was asked to change a kid Who showed him not all boys are made the same The night I got the news, I pitched a fit He'd died from that disease at twenty-eight
Hey, just went back to check my notes and found my original line was
"He met his fate before they called it AIDS"
Much obliged, matey.
