And Googling ain't allowed!!!!!!...OK, that's too harsh a rule. Lemme rephrase:
Googling ain't allowed as a "quick & easy" response.
I was trying to gently relocate a copperhead snake from our yard this morning, and for reasons that I can't explain, I thought:
Has Diane Warren written a song about this?
The copperhead is fine and healthy and happy in a whole new environment.
But I was left with the question:
How many Diane Warren songs can I name? And I came up with ZERO!!!!
She has been a songwriting FORCE for a couple of decades. And I suspect that I have heard dozens of the songs she penned...
But decades ago, you could buy an album, and see who had written a song. With the advent of the internet and downloading, the songwriters' names are harder to find.
No Googling:-)
How many Diane Warren songs can you name?
Just curious, and wondering about the responses.

Well, I don't know any but! How many songwriters does it take to change a light bulb? No fair Googleing now! One to change it. 37 to offer critiques of how it could be done better. 4 to butt in and re-change it themselves. And 6, to light candles and place them stragetically around the house because the damn bulb got tired of being over-thought and hitch-hiked to Montana to raise a crop of dental floss... Edited to add: ... "...Montana to raise a crop of dental floss" is my favorite Frank Zappa line...Just giving credit where its due...I don't want anyone to think I came up with that line:-) Midnite

Hi Midnite, I've been aware of Dianne Warren since my twenties, and I'm usually aware of the last few things she's done, but now there's only one that I remember, but it's firmly ensconced in my memory, and I'll have the memory 'til I die I think. That would be Lady Gaga singing "'Til It Happens To You" at the Oscars. It's a Warren song that's about sexual violence, and used in a movie (I think) about sexual abuse on college campuses. Joe Biden introduced the song, and as you can see, Lady Gaga sang it as if her life depended on it, and I thought to myself--that's how to sell a song (and the message it brings)--be totally focused and bring it strong--and I became a Gaga fan for life, right there..and shed tears as did most of the audience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvJt6_vU70cMike

Thanks!!!! I asked in all sincerity....I've heard at least 6 of these, and never knew Ms. Warren had penned them. As a wanna-be-song-scribbler... ....Damn....Not just for her writing ability, but for her dedication to perfecting her craft on a day to day basis, alone with a piano... Thanks again... Midnite

Faith of The Heart was written by her and used as the theme song for Enterprise, a Star Trek prequel series...chronicling the missions of the very first starship Enterprise
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Aw Dennis, It was the late Karen Carpenter that recorded Solitaire. According to the CD Notes Neil Sedaka wrote the music and Phillip Cody wrote the lyrics, 1975.

True. Sometimes different artist will sing the same song from time to time. Like Trisha Yearwood singed ''How do I live; and Lee ann Rimes also recorded the same song. It was Laura Branigan who sing ''Solitaire'' that Diane Warren written. The song reached number 7 in the US pop charts in 1983. Solitaire were Ms. Branigan first hit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Warren

Ms. Laura Branigan is deceased. Linda Ronstadt currently suffers from Parkinson disease, this robbed her of her ability to sing. I read this in an article about her in a AARP Magazine about 8 months ago.

Humm, Never heard of Lara Branigan until now. I like her sound. I know the Carpenters were a bit earlier so maybe some haven't heard of them. Solitaire was a pretty big hit for Karen , The Carpenters, way back there. True there are a lot of songs of similar nature recorded and released. Makes it extremely hard to write an original song! Karen died from an eating disorder Writ a Hit!

Ray..just making sure you understand that these are two completely different songs-the "Solitaire" that the Carpenters recorded was indeed the Neil Sedaka song that you and I are more familiar with, whereas the Laura Branigan one is a totally different song, penned by Dianne Warren and Martine Clémenceau.

Offhand, none. If I thought really hard, maybe I could come up with the name of that Aerosmith one.
I despise what she loves. She does what she does very well, and I hate it all.
I wish her well, but I just don't hear or think about music the way she does, and never will.

Michael, Well dammit Michael, I have also been playing Solitaire with trying to pitch my songs! I'm the only one playing!
Yes, I saw that they are two different songs. I would say it is kinda strange that someone would write a different song with the same title as a already big hit. Maybe Warren never heard of the Carpenters song. It was a long time ago. Write a Hit!
Hell, now I may have to change a light bulb. It never ends!
