Jim,
Thought I'd check this out since you mentioned it on the other thread. I can relate. I'm just glad I've put those days behind me. Funny thing though, when I was going through the things I did, I thought God had abandoned me. But in a moment of clarity, it was God I thought about when I was staring down the barrel. I think that was really the stopping point for me.
Barry David, I saw a news thingy ma jig about Catch 22 which was started by former NFL players to help veterans with suicidal thoughts. 22 a day on average commit suicide. That's a real shame.
Best wishes fellas!

Just wanted to share my song about Soldier Suicide. THIS is a disgusting shame and a great lyric by Carroll Kiphen. I have cancer and think about taking my life if it gets toward the end. I try and write and record songs that are hard hitting and make people think.....Just a shameless plug I guess...lol Barry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exiijx78hXw

Mr. Travis, I understand. Trust me when I say that I can relate to how you feel. I been there too my friend. 16 years old I lost my mother a massive heart attack claimed her life. I had to drop out of school cause I had no one to love and care for me. My father wasn't no where to be found. to be honest he just didn't care. I basically was living on the streets. I turned to alcohol for consolation. That only lasted for a brief period of time. The story goes on. But to make a long story short. All the things that I was going through I begin to write it down. I started writing a book about my life. Every time I would begin to write about my life ordeals burdens would begin to dissipate. Just one day I was along writing almost had completed the book that I was writing. I heard a small still voice came from out of no where and told me that everything was going to be alright. To say sense then things have been alright for me. I still face trials but when I pray my friend some way some how I know that God is there and that everything is going to be alright. That's why I say to you no matter what you are going to be alright. Some times when we fall weak in faith; we need others to pray for us. That's why I pray for everyone and everybody. Each and everyday and every night. I'm pouring my heart out to you as now; nothing about these words are fabricated. I can go on and on and on. I can relate to how you feeling I've been there too. Just whisper the name of Jesus. Continue to seek his face I promise you that he will make things right. I know for a fact he did it for me. That's why I'm still here today-all because of God's love and his grace. I'm going to keep praying for you my friend. It breaks my heart to know are see someone going through tough times. God is the answer and he is in control. You're gonna be alright my friend! O.k. I love you my friend and my brother in Christ. God bless!

Mr. Butler, Suicide is not the answer. God is my friend. I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this. Know that you're not alone. God is there. I remember as a child I was about 6 maybe 7 years old. My mother had to get one of her breast amputated because she had cancer. I remember as plain as day all the things that she went through from sickness to recovery. My mother was a God fearing woman. That's why when I written that song lyric ''Mama's Prayers.'' I dedicated it to her. We continued to pray for mama and God healed her completely. I know it's hard but just keep praying. God's got a miracle for you. No matter what God has the final say over everything. I'm going to be praying for you my friend. I love you my brother in Christ. Dennis

Don't do it, Jim! Focus on what you love!
That said, I hear your pain, and this lyric is raw and real. I've been there, and so have so many others. You need a John Lennon angry guitar on this one, and a throbbing, simple drum and bass.

Hey Jim,
You know, with your luck, the next place you'd land would be full of DOGS!!! I can guarantee it. EVERYWHERE YOU LOOKED -- DOGS AND MORE DOGS! Dogs in your house, dogs in your car, dogs in your booth at the Waffle House diner! It would make Nashville look like a virtual doggy DESERT!
Most would call that heaven, but I know you'd call it hell!

Thanks, everybody! I opened a can of worms here. I thought about putting it in the third person but felt it would lessen the impact. I've wanted to exit this world a couple of times, notably after coming out of the army in 1971 (veterans can have it rough as Barry has implied) and again when my mother died in 2010. So I had the emotions and language for writing such a lyric. At 70, I plan to live out my life and die of natural causes.

Hope you never contemplated it yourself, but there are many who have. In fact at one time a study undertaken I believe by TIME magazine stated that roughly 40 percent of us have considered suicide at least once in their lives. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am among them.
But, although I have been single all my life (not sure if by choice or circumstance), I experience far less loneliness today than I did in earlier years despite the fact that I tend to socialize much less (can't afford the price tag for it though I do still have the interest). Sounds crazy, doesn't it? I think it is a lot harder to meet people today despite all the Internet dating sites.

My problem is that I'm not attracted to women my age. I'm only attracted to young women. My social life centers around karaoke, so I meet lots of young females. Almost all of them have young boy friends. I don't want to be tied down, so hanging out with a twenty or thirty something for the evening is nice. I came off the stage a few nights ago, and a young guy came to me. He said there was a girl named Andrea who wanted to meet me. He took me to her. Andrea and I had a nice talk, and I dedicated my last song to her, which was Luke Bryan's "Strip It Down." Strip It Down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2BWyY4B36Y

Hay there Jim,
Had a cuz and friend end it this way............no note........so many questions unanswered.........thought I'd do a little rewrite on this one......hope you don't care......
Tex
Suicide
All alone, not so much as a friend Thinking about how it should all end Lying here, in this lonely cold bed So much bullshit, bouncing around in my head
Thinking about Suicide.....Suicide Got it on my mind Suicide.....Suicide Gun here by my side Suicide.....Suicide Just put it to my head Pull the trigger and I'll be dead From Suicide.....Suicide
There'll be no more hurt, no more pain No more bullshit, driving me insane Got to set my spirt free, let it fly No reason at all to say Goodbye
Thinking about Suicide.....Suicide Got it on my mind Suicide.....Suicide Gun here by my side Suicide.....Suicide Just put it to my head Pull the trigger and I'll be dead From Suicide.....Suicide
(somber musical interlude)
Thinking about Suicide.....Suicide Got it on my mind Suicide.....Suicide Gun here by my side Suicide.....Suicide Just put it to my head (sound of gun shot) Now I die, from Suicide From Suicide
