Happy weekend JPFrs everywhere. I have once again hijacked some of Mike LeBlanc's lyrics. Please let us know what you think. Thanks, Ricki https://soundcloud.com/rickib/blue-birdhttp://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=830133&songID=13253602Blue Bird ©Mike LeBlanc Another morning, don't open the shades The way I'm feeling, this bed won't get made Think I'll spend the day far from laughter Nothing to lose so what does it matter Turn off my dreams, they're only illusions Try to make sense of all this confusion When love leaves its nest and stretches its wings To find a new bird with a new song to sing It hurts when you're perched in a valley so low Where the sun doesn't shine, the wind doesn't blow All you can do is look up to the sky And wonder how long before this blue bird can fly Morning has greeted the evening so fast Nothing this poor bird can do to surpass The sorrow that holds me flightless and still Bound by the heartbreak. lost all my will It hurts when you're perched in a valley so low Where the sun doesn't shine, the wind doesn't blow All you can do is look up to the sky And wonder how long before this blue bird can fly This blue bird can fly This blue bird can fly

Hi Ricki. The arrangement and melody fits the lyric perfectly. As I listened I kept thinking the lyric may work better as ABAB, at least in the verses.

I think you did a good job putting the lyrics to music. The chord changes work well, and the melody fits. The meter is good as well.
Now we just need a great recording of this!
Peace, TC

Hi Ricki and Michael,
I like how casually the lyric opens and gradually reveals the singer is identifying with the bluebird, while thinking about love.
Ricki, you capture the mood really well, letting the composition breathe beautifully.
Great work!

Ricki,
NICE FIT of a melody to this lyric! You really put me into those wonderful words! How can two such talented folks not do a fab song anyway? Great collab!

Thanks for letting us know what you like about this one, Mike. I wasn't through reading the first verse before I had the music and the vocal in my head. It happens like that sometimes.

Thanks for listening, Tammy. With all of the songs Mike and I have done together, most of the music came to me either as I was reading the words or shortly thereafter. When that happens, it's not to be ignored.

That really hit me. The sparse arrangement really gives power to the lyric. Nice work - both of you. I love the chord changes in the chorus too! Scott
