They are WAY Under rated as songwriters AND Performers. There newest Anything Goes is amazingly fun...and Dirt is one of the best songs I've ever heard....They can do both types of songs and I hope they go a little more serious to separate themselves from the rest of the crap on GAC.

Hey John....Listened to some of your songs and like them and your voice. Especially liked I'm Passing Through. You ought to lighten up on the effects on your voice and LET the gritty aspect come through more. I have 400 songs up at barrydbutler channel on youtube and have Many Americana type songs....I write a lot about the human condition also and wanted to share HARD TIMES ON MAINSTREET.. .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f73ZtDs07C4Keep on truckin.....Barry

You ought to lighten up on the effects on your voice and LET the gritty aspect come through more. Sometimes I use effects...sometimes I don't...depends on what I am trying to achieve with the song. Pretty happy with the stylings on my latest crop but thanks anyway for that observation! I have 400 songs up at barrydbutler channel on youtube and have Many Americana type songs....I write a lot about the human condition also and wanted to share HARD TIMES ON MAINSTREET.. .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f73ZtDs07C4Keep on truckin.....Barry I will definitely check out your music! Thanks for the links!

Hey Barry! I just listened to HARD TIMES ON MAINSTREET and thoroughly enjoyed it! Some fine storytelling there...Dylan-esque in the social commentary...that is a damn fine hook/title too! Your performance was great; I might like to hear some violin or cello or maybe even steel in the break but it is pretty fine as-is! Thanks for sharing the link! Nice work!

Wow Barry - you are a Bro-Country fan? Well, congratulations on coming out....that is the first step in getting cured. You have to let your friends know you have the problem and then accept their help to get over it. I wish you well and I know you have a great support group right here on JPF.

Aw, Humm, Being one that has listened to Country Music since about 1952 I can say Georgia/Florida Line wouldn't even get past an opening act. What I have heard is pretty weak to say the least.

Sorry to hit and run last night, especially when I haven't posted in so long. Sorry, but "Bro' Country" is my achilles heel. I think it's the worst abomination ever introduced to human ears, and FLA/GA IMO is the worst of the worst. They, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, and Jason Aldean are the Mt Rushmore of Bro' Country SUCKDOM! But fear not, the cavalry is on the way. Did you see the CMA's tonight? New artist of the year Chris Stapleton is the real deal, and SCHOOLED the entire room. I've been saying for a while now that it's inevitable that Bro' Country will go the same way "hair metal" went in the 80's, and for the same reason. {Lack of substance, over saturation. If you get a chance, check out Mr Stapleton, the pendulum is swinging back to REAL country, and it's a BEAUTIFUL thing!

Not angry at all, I just despise the current state of country music, and IMO they are the poster children. That's O.K, I'm in a MUCH better frame of mind tonight having been introduced the future of Country music in the form of one Chris Stapleton, who won CMA "new artist of the year.

I have to agree with Bob on this one. Awarding Chris Stapleton new artist of the year is a refreshing step in the right direction for country music. He has more talent than FGL, Aldean, Bryan, and Shelton combined. Good move CMA! It's time to let the country music fans hear something with substance for a change.
Best, Marvin

i was going for Chris but then he jams with Timberlake who was there, why?Fall Out Boy,there, why? But if i'm not mistaken, who i haven't seen in years, that sure looked like Robbie Krieger from The Doors playing guitar with Hank Williams Jr. last night.I guess my favorite part was watching Chris walk away with what he won rather than the usual ones.Brooks and Dunn and Reba showed them how country music should be.I did check my blood pressure after the show and it was up a bit but i'm back to normal this morning.Mike

Do I love FLorida Georgia line, no, not really, love, but I do like the song Dirt, a lot. I can stand to listen to them but probably wouldn't pay big money to see them. It has led some younger folks into country which can be a good thing. We have to realize, country can be many things and it can be okay if its evolving some. Ernest Tubb was not like Johnny Cash and probably people like Ernest said the same about Johnny, Willie and Waylon. Kim

Ernest Tubb was not like Johnny Cash and probably people like Ernest said the same about Johnny, Willie and Waylon. Kim But NONE of them SUCKED the chrome off a door knob like TODAY'S "country!" well that depends on taste. No disrespect but I really disliked Little Jimmy Dickens sound, especially Bird of Paradise , and most of Buck Owens songs, especially Tiger by the Tail. There were songs who many call classic country singers that I remember my dad changing the radio station when they came on. I do wish country lyrics would dig deeper. I am sick of truck songs, parking , drinking and party songs. I miss songs like I heard in 70's and 80's, but remember people older than me not liking people like Alan Jackson, Garth, and George Strait, who now people call clasic country and singers that make sense. When it comes to music tastes, there will always be us older folks not liking what the younger kids attempt to do and when these kids have kids of their own, their kids will say the same. it's a right of passage. I do dig Chris Stapleton though, did before he was on CMA awards. ☺ Kim

I thought this was an ironic post at first :-)
True, there are some great songs in there, but I've net been impressed of the CMA performances.
Of course I'm not even close to their target audience, so I won't ruin anyone else's excitement, but they haven't made it to my top 100.
