okay,i'm posting a version of mine and a version of Ricki's.Not at all a competition,it's just we worked on these at the same time not knowing what the other was doing with theirs. There is a slight difference in lyrics but nothing major,i'm posting only one lyric, also the structue is different in each.Anyway, you get the picture.Thanx! Ladies first... http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13226293mine http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13226242Dying Wind i spent my life soaring,in the wind so high never standing on the ground, never wanting to try but as the years come up on me,the lower i fly it appears that it's time,to come down from the sky as i plant my feet firmly,on solid ground wondering what i should do,as i slowly unwound look back in anger,or find peace where i'm bound as the winter of my life, brings stillness all around it lays me down, ever so gentle carries me back,to where i began embraced in soft sound,of such sentimental my life beckoned by,the dying wind here i am like a stone,no feather on a breeze confined in grey solitude, where memories tease last season of life dawns, the past appeased i thank the wind, for the life i have seized it lays me down, ever so gentle carries me back,to where i began embraced in soft sound,of such sentimental my life beckoned by,the dying wind

Not sure if you want us to say which one we like best, Michael. Don't want to get into trouble here. :-o
I like the lyrics though. Vic

Hi Guys,
I thought that both versions were excellent! I liked listening to both to feel how the performances colored the lyrics.. Thanks...

Hey guys!
Well Ricki's is more folk music, and Mike's is more soft pop music IMO. Both give off a different vibe, but the lyrics work either direction. What a neat idea to see how the two directions take flight!

Ricki's is folksy which I like yours is more mainstream Mike which I also like. I think you need to arm wrestle for the decider.Good song and lyric Travis

Mike, thanks for posting these. I also am fascinated by the fact that nobody else hears the music (or the voices) in my head! It always surprises me when someone says that they get a different vibe from a lyric, but it shouldn't, as we are all different. This was a great exercise for me and a pleasant surprise because I like your music as well. Write on! Ricki

No worries, Vic, just two people coming at the same lyric from different directions. No telling where a person can take a song if they put their mind to it.

Hi Ricki and Michael,
Like both of these. Ricki, yours sort of envelopes me in a feeling, and Michael, yours has my focused on the poetry, like a Townes Van Zandt song.
Great lyric from which to work as well.

ok...so I listened to both......
Ricki sings better than you man but, I liked your performance too...best I have heard from you ....still there are pitch issues...in your version..your ending needs "more" arrangement wise....some kind of lead instrument... Mike your production was actually better IMHO than Ricki's.....but she sings better and the harmonies are cool....
did I mention that Ricki sings better than you??
thought I should mention that..... D)

Interesting to hear two distinct takes on the same lyric. Both have their own appeal.

Hi Ricki & Mike,
Well, it was a treat to listen to both versions and very cool and interesting to hear how you each interpreted the lyric! I think you both did a great job and you both stayed very true to the spirit of the lyric! That was a fun experiment -- DO IT AGAIN!!!
