"Light Of My Eyes" (Lyrics by Dennis Rooney. Music by John Daubert). Daubert production/playing and vocals. No cymbals and bass on purpose. Can you handle that!? hahaha "Light Of My Eyes": http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13188977

needs bass and cymbals....................... Hi John, Hope all is well in your world man...... Been a long time coming..... I really dig this tune.....it doesn't need cymbals so much but I think a slick laid back bass line might be pretty cool... The writing is great The harmonies are great the guitars are great......I really like this (did I say that already?) keep on rockin' bro.... Joe

Hi Johnny,
No cymbals, no problem--my favorite all time album "Security" by Peter Gabriel had none either.
Really cool song. Reminds me of Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds. I like the double tracking on the lead vocal and the gated drums. I could hear the vocals either with a tad more volume overall, or maybe a little brighter to cut through better.
I agree with Joro--palm muted bass would sound great on this..
Mike

Our band did it with bass and cymbals, but when I tracked this version, I just liked how it felt without them. Like em both. The bass that Doc put to it is really cool too. maybe I will post that again sometime. Thank you again!

Mike I did some EQ on the mix, as I do not have the indie tracks. they were done on a machine I no longer have. Thank you!!!

Once again, my apology for being so late. Johnny, this song does not need a single tweak as far as my ears are concerned. All it needs is some airtime and serious marketing. I absolutely loved what you guys did. Harmonies suppressed, melody that carries the listener right along and I can't wait to hear it being sung by somebody rich and famous. (Hey, it's okay if you guys get rich and famous... I'll still enjoy it.) Congratulations on a well-rendered song.
All the best, ----Dave

All the best, ----Dave Well, thank you, Dave! What a huge pat on the back! ( I did everything on it). Roon, (Dennis Ronney, of our recent past but current in a way, 2LT band), wrote the very cool lyric! A few years ago, I tracked an acoustic guitar and the lead vocal on Roon's Tascam mini digital. I gave it back to him when I got the Nac and it;s Garageband and other programs to have fin with. Just a couple of weeks ago, I found that mix and tracked the drums, strings, and horns tpo that nix in Audacity. THEE issue I had was that when I played the those parts, the delay was about 2/3 of a beat behind. If you knew me, you would know that I said the hell with it, I will just hit the keyboard for those added parts in beat for what I was hearing the original guitar and vocal do. I completely ignored what the sounds of my playing was doing, for it was not in beat at all, being behind. (I learned how to focus in or out sounds from tuning pianos in noisy places and homes for 35 years). When I was done each track, I noticed the wavs in Audacity moved to the left, which then lined up with the original guitar and vocal track! I just had to move a hair of some parts of my playing here and there, to make it all line up and feel natural. My wife said, " you have Tinnitus and hear that, and then you heard your playing off beat but still recorded it all"? Then she said, "Of course you did"! hahaha. Helps to be a little nuts, right? My point is, with the replies before yours, THEN yours, well, it hit me as me doing something that worked, despite the challenges I had. Makes me feel like I did something not that easy, although, music does comes easy for me for some reason. I think also that it shows me, and I hope others, that we can find ways to do something productive, no matter what obstacles we all have to work through. Your saying that it just needs airplay and marketing really hit home for me. (ALL about the effort we all put in, and that we hope it is something of value for any listener). The business part of things is so far away from me, it isn't funny. I used to shop songs to publishers all the time. Now, I spend time on my editing and audio work for interviews for podcast hosts. And of course, for family, (grandkids)!!! Sports! Them just track something that pops into my head, or that I find again, like in this tune. Roon;s lyrics inspired me to do what it took to have it good enough just for us and our family to listen to. I didn't figure it would have such replies as it has. Thank you again! Please excuse my lack of listening to anything much other than what I have to for work, and then the very low volume as well for the times I try to track things. I don;t use speakers anymore. Just the Mac's built-ins on level 3. Recording and listening to the work I have to do). The rest is hearing this very loud zinging. I just wish it rang in the keys I am playing to! Haha. The songs I track and the jobs I do add to the Tinnitus and hyperacousis, so it is why I am absent from all the songs on this site as for replies. My HUGE apologies for that to you and to everyone. Sincerely, Johnny

Every thing is right in the pocket. Really cool soundstage I'm hearing on our monitors. Cool write, cool vocals wrapped up in a fine production.
Great listen!

J&B Glad it works on those speakers! Thank you for letting me know that. I just record and mix and master using the Mac's built-ins. Always let me know when not to your liking. Thanks again! Johnny
