I'M REWORKING SOME OF MY OLDER LYRICS--PUT THIS ONE IN 3RD PERSON WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP--I wrote this one listening to John Melancamp's PAPER AND FIRE.
ANGEL OF MERCY II ©2015 Mackie Humphries
He’s free fallin' Where poppies grow Caught up in clouds Tossed to and fro With troubled mind He wants to flee Angel of Mercy Come set him free.
Angel of Mercy come bring him back You can save him from certain death Help him escape temptation’s wrath Angel of Mercy come give him breath.
He’s reachin’ out For a new life To leave behind His neon lights With glass empty It's time to leave Angel of Mercy Come set him free.
Angel of Mercy come bring him back You can save him from certain death Help him escape temptation’s wrath Angel of Mercy come give him breath.
He’s been floating Between two worlds He wants to stop The drugs he craves Tonight he cries And makes his plea Angel of Mercy Come set him free.
Angel of Mercy come bring him back You can save him from certain death Help him escape temptation’s wrath Angel of Mercy come give him breath.
TAG Angel of Mercy - come give him breath Angel of Mercy - come give him breath.

I like this a lot, too, Mackie. Very well written and flows smoothly. I think I'd change the line WITH GLASS EMPTY to WITH EMPTY GLASS. It rolls off the tongue a little more naturally I think.
Nicely done!

I really like this. It definitely captures the exhaustion of being finished with the life of addictions and needing help to escape. Nicely done.

I got the same feeling I had after reading William Wordsworth and Lord Byron.

Jim--
Thanks for the feeling--In the West Point Prep School, we had to unscramble their poems--I got pretty good at doing that! The idea came from a poem by Col. McCrae in the first world war.
In Flanders fields where poppies blow
Other ideas from:
Afganastan pictures of fields of poppies as the USA HEROIN addiction has doubled!
I did put some music to it on the mp3 forum.
