We are running a little competition this month and by participating you're in with a chance for a free demo. I just thought I'd let you guys know. You can find the details at www.songcat.biz/spring.html------------------------------------------------------------------- Edited by Original Poster: The competition is closed by now. This was posted in April and we were open for submissions for two weeks. If we run another competition in the future I'll let you know. Thanks!

Didn't find out about your outfit until just now. Sent an email per your website. Have over a thousand lyrics in batches according to year of creation and have had six successfully demoed so far.

Chris, a vocalist acquaintance of mine (who's living in Belgium) is looking for someone to master a song of hers (she's working on a nerdcore album). I've sent her your website link. It's possible she'll get in touch.

Hi Donna, Thanks for the recommendation. I'll send you a PM in a second with a link - as promised earlier this year, all JPF members get 20% off. I guess we can include acquaintances of JPF members ;-) Should be in your inbox in a minute.

Hi Kimberly,
This contest is not running anymore. I posted this in April and we were open for submissions for about two weeks. I'm sorry you missed it. Feel free to sign up for the newsletter. If we run another competition at some stage, you will know it that way. I will update the orginal post as it might confuse other members as well. Sorry about that.
Chris

Hi Dave,
It wasn't a JPF member I'm afraid. The competition was open to everyone. A songwriter from California won. I can't give you the name, especially not on a public forum. I think that would go against any privacy rule ever written lol.

I dunno, Chris,
I realize that this thread is old, and the contest well over, and congratulations to the winner, but a "privacy rule"? That seems rather bizarre. I didn't enter, but I never enter contests, simply because I always expect to win and then someone has to talk me down from a ledge when I don't:-)
Every "artistic" contest I'm aware of announces who won. It is an honor, bragging rights, etc for the winner. To not announce who won can give the impression that perhaps no one did, which doesn't speak well for the contest organizers.
lease know that I'm not suggesting that there's anything unscrupulous, but it can give that impression, ya know?
Perhaps, if you have another one, you ought to have something in the "fine print" that states that all winners will be announced and/or available to the public. That way you won't have to worry about "privacy", and it will make the contest seem much more on the up & up.
Best
Bob

Hey Midnight Bob. Thanks for your "business advice". We have to pay for that normally lol. But to clarify this, we notified the winner and announced him through our newsletter, well months ago by now, as you correctly stated, this competition has been over for a while now. The winner has all bragging rights, that's true - but he can brag where he wants to brag and I'm sure he did. But not here, as he's not a member. How would you feel if your real name is all over the Internet on forums, facebook groups etc, especially since you signed up here with a fake name ;-)

Ahh, thanks for the clarification!!!!
Makes much more sense now that I know that you DID announce the winner in your newsletter! You have certainly eased my confusion:-)
Best

P.S...What makes you think that Midnite Bob isn't my real name?...:-)

Lol, was just a wild guess to be honest ;-) I haven't met too many people with the name Bob Midnite or Jack Afternoon. But hey - I've seen weirder names than that so I guess you could be Mr. Midnite.

Hey Chris, hope you're well!
I was just cruising through the Forums and reread your last response, and the "Jack afternoon" gave me a giggle. I had formed a band in DC back in '99, and we called it "Jack Couldn't Make It". Everyone had a cool nickname, except me. During a gig, I asked the band, "What time is it?", and someone shouted out "It's midnight, Bob"...The other band members decided to misspell "midnight", and that's pretty much what everyone I know has called me ever since.
We've had at least 13 rotating members over the years, but none of them was ever named Jack...Goofy ol' world, ain't it?
You have any more contests coming up?
Midnite

Hey Mr. Midnite,
Sorry for the slow response. I haven't been on the forum for a week or so. Trying to soak up a bit of sun before we're heading back into fall. Cool story about how you got your nickname. Gosh, back in '99 - that has been a while... and still with the same nickname. I had one during high school, then another one during college and now I lost all the coolness and everybody just calls me Chris. Oh well lol.
We'll probably run a contest some time again. Let's wait until it gets cold and rainy again. I'll try to keep you busy when you're locked indoors and not during summer time ;-) We used the summer to do some re-designs on the website. Have a look if you want.
Chris - without a nickname
