Yep, it's the player. But a Gibson or Fender would be so much easier on the fingers.

Yep, it's the player. But a Gibson or Fender would be so much easier on the fingers. Hi Ben! Also, and without actually having to have either brand to have it easy on the fingers, a GOOD Guitar Tech, such as New Jersey's Peter Brown, (no, not the Beatle Peter Brown), can make just about ANY guitar play like cutting through soft butta! (Knockoffs made in Jabip, or other places), and even most cheapies! HOW? Through his and other tech's skilled techniques of making frets lower if needed, adjusting the bridge and neck---fine tuning the guitar's intonation. And, the right strings for that guitar for easiest play if that is mostly what is wanted. Heck, they even rewire cheapies to have the best in them, including great pickups, to have those guitars play and sound just about as good or AS good, for a lot less money than the name brand. Keep in mind that cost of advertising of the named brands are incorporated in the price. So, the higher price is not representing the ratio of goodness of cheaper guitars to the expensive ones. I was clearly shown all that I mentioned, with Peter showing our band all the things he was doing to some guitars. He is the tech For "Rain" and many pro bands when they come to Philly. Rain and others have asked him to tour with them to be their day to day guitar tech during those tours. His exact words: "I make any knockoff play and sound as good as the most expensive Gibsons. Spend hundreds on a guitar, not thousands, and I craft it into one of those 3 to 5 thousand dollar guitars, for much less. He said it is not about the name, but what is done AFTER ANY guitar that comes out of any factory. Even the most expensive ones should be gone over. Peter Brown went to the guitar building shop in Colorado, where he became a craftsman, then moved back to New Jersey to work on guitars for the band in and around the Philly area. So,,,,NO, you don't need a Gibson or Fender! Just a tech that will make just about guitar play and sound like the best of those brands. I imagine not all guitar techs have such skills and talent as it was obvious Peter has artistic talent. Find someone with BOTH and take even a cheapy there to have it transformed for much less than the top brands. I played his samples of such guitars. Truly amazing!

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
