Mike, I think you and a couple of others (Travis & Jim C.) could take a phrase or even a word and construct a song around it. In fact, I've visited websites of songwriters who do exactly that for money. I'm jealous. Dave

Dave's quote makes me think of songwriter Les Sampou when she wrote a song around the literary line that more tears are shed over answered prayers than unanswered prayers. A few months back I emailed her and asked if she had ever recorded it and replied that she didn't feel it fit her voice and style so she didn't. I told her that she should, but don't know if she will or not. This is the kind of humorous piece that is reminiscent of some of the stuff the late Tampa Stan Good came up with. At first the title brought back memories of one of Simon & Garfunkel's hits, "Dangling Conversation". If nothing else this will inspire me to Google dangling participle and see what I come up. Yet I have memories of learning about gerunds and infinitives, if you remember them.

Hi Michael, cool lyric, rich in innuendo, my suggestion would be to change the hook line, Could you help me,with my dangling participle
I'm hearing a rhythm ending on (with my dangling principle) I'd consider dropping the (with) like Can you help me ease/mend/fix/guide/correct/understand/strengthen/etc etc My dangling principle
mom coming in doesn't work for me,I'd be thinking like Help me make my dangling principle Upright and invincible
anyway just a few thoughts, all the best, john

LOL! Only thing I would say is to try to get the first 2 lines of every verse to rhyme, like in verse 3.

A gerund is what is known as a verbal noun, or form of a verb used as a noun. Gerunds usually end in -ing. Example: Singing is my favorite pastime.

Michael--
Like a good story, It's not over until the Fat Lady sings, then you point your Harley, revvin' for wide open spaces, and more dangling participles!
Write on Brother!

Hi Michael:
I've been seeing this "Title" pop up over on the left side of my screen and had to have a peek. Loved the idea behind it and I hope you'll turn it into a song real soon. Is it perfect? No! Is it nearly perfect? Yes! I know this is an old post and you've probably already got 'R done! LOL!
As my pal Mackie sez, "Write On... Brother!" ----Dave
