I started working with this concept and just fell flat...the idea is you are driving to work...and you really just don't want to go. The singer is making the car his or her companion... I thought about calling this Open Road Calling or Change Direction...your thoughts on this??? Verse You and me and here we are going the same way, same time Each and every single day Here stuck in traffic again Trying to get to a place Don't want to go anyway Chorus? There's an open road calling It's about time we listened They won't be missing us much Got some good tunes working here Change direction, hit the gas And let us be out of touch Still playing with this myself...but curious to see what you all come up with... Thanks!!
Keep it coming!! Nicki...

Write a new chorus. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Hi nic. I'll see if I can help...
Mid_Life (like in mid-stream) Correction
You and me... here again Same place, same time Each and every single day Stuck in traffic again, and why? Trying to get to a place We don't wanna to go to anyway
Chorus There's an open road calling And it's about time we listened That ol' job won't be missing Us too much There's a new tune on the radio About changing direction Maybe we should take this chance To make a mid-life correction
take what you'd like... or none at all good luck with it sonny

I answer all calls for help, whether I'm needed or not. I like braveboy09's changes and I would like to tweak them a little more. "That open road's been a-calling it's about time we answered that ol' job won't be missing us too much There's a new tune on the radio telling us which way to go so let's leave this ol' life in the dust".

Hey nicnac....man it's late and i'm tired and this is what goes on in my brain....pretty lame but i wrote it and i'm stickin to it...I'm sure i'll be thrilled in the morning.....trush
Verse You and me we could do this in our sleep wake up on time to the same old routine for me it's a habit for you it's all about upkeep to start my engine i need caffeine for you it's premium gasoline
Chorus? There's an open road calling and this time i'm listening I have feeling this is the day Your tuned up and i'll turn the tunes up pedal to the metal and the paws on the road we're heading in a different direction today
sometimes you just stay way too long then you get inspired by some silly song Your all waxed up and shiny with no place to go and i'm jacked up and whiney ready to blow let's hit the road and put some miles on these wheels I got a smile on my face and polished front grille.

NIC: Hello again here's some ideas.
Verse I'm sitting in your seat again Eyes half closed, its 7:00 A.M. Same road, same time, same white lines Stuck in the same old traffic jam
The last place I wanna be today Is the place We're Trying hard to get to I see an exit down the way Wadda ya say we put it to some good use
Chorus? There's an open road where where the traffic don't go Reserved for us, I think its time to roll DJ on your radio here, just started a tune I haven't heard in years That settles it, Gotta be a good omen Gas tank's full, time for us to be roaming

Hi nicnac,
I just came back and read your lyrics again. This time I said to myself "Is this about a car?" Perhaps it is about another driver on that takes the same road...maybe they are flirting or the singer thinks they are...a fantasy or reality to be pursued. The dances in the head of the driver stuck in the daily grind. Maybe the singer comes up with driving some untraveled road with this other commuter. As is hinted, there is a yearning for a different path! Good luck!

Ok Paul...I think you're winning this one...for sure now...and trush you are the inspiration for the bridge!! I honestly took most your nits...(it's mostly your song now!! -you and trush will definitely go on with me) just took out some extras....and put the verses together... Open Road Verse I'm sitting in this seat again Eyes half closed, its 7:00 A.M. Same road, same time, same white lines Stuck in the same old traffic jam The last place I wanna be today Same one we're trying to get to I see an exit down the way Wadda ya say we put it to good use Chorus There's an open road where traffic's not going Reserved for us, its time to get rolling The radio playing stuff I haven't heard in years That's settles it for me, we're outta here!! Verse Driving along, everyone flyin pass Me sipping on coffee, you sipping gas What if this day was our last day on earth It's time to start living for all we're worth chorus Bridge We've been working way too hard and long They won't even notice that we're gone Let's hit the road, put some miles on these wheels With a smile on my face, and your polished front grille chorus... how's that???
