Yes, this seems to be a worrying trend. Whilst there are similarities with 'oops' I would have thought that 'Uptown' was sufficiently different. The odd thing for me regarding this song was although it borrows heavily from a lot of 80's funk, the one I thought may lead to a claim was Public Enemy's 'Don't Believe The Hype' - we'll see

yes and in another link i saw about this,it breaks down who got paid and how much.It's going to be hard to write a dance tune from now on.Finding those beats sound a lot alike to me.I hope this doesn't happen to the blues scene,how many of those sound alike?A helluva lot.

Blues is safe because even the top albums (mostly ancient catalog stuff) barely sell and not even enough money to hire attorneys.
A big Dance hit like that however still has some zeros behind the numbers for everyone and HUGE performance royalties for the hit performers online which is where it is all at.

yeah Brian,other than the Led Zeppelin lawsuit for the blues songs they borrowed/stole,i can't think of any others.
