Hi! Been a while since I posted anything here. I did this with my friend a few weeks ago.... Whaddaya think? http://www.reverbnation.com/ihor/song/23355196-marching-to-the-graveyardMARCHING TO THE GRAVEYARD ©words/music I. Wolosenko 2015 Guitars and Drums - Tony Di Griggorio Vocals/ Brass - Iggyiggy Arranged by Iggyiggy and Tony Verse 1: We're all marching to the graveyard Everybody's got to come You line up when you get here And they march you 'til you're done So when you see some friends around Take the time to play Marching to the graveyard Day by day Verse 2: Marching to the graveyard It's a dark and steady beat Got angels with their slide trombones Ripping up the streets Everybody's got the rhythm Devil 's on the drum Marching to the graveyard One by one Chorus: Glory, glory Hallelujah Can you hear them start to pray Glory, glory Hallelujah Everybody's on their way Bridge Peter's blowing on the saxophone Leaning on those pearly gates So look your lovers in the eyes Whisper all your sweet goodbyes 'Cause the hour's getting late Verse 3: We've got every saint and sinner We got liars, priests and bums Every man and woman born On the way to kingdom come We'll all lay down our burdens When we get to where we're bound Marching to that lonely Graveyard sound Instrumental Chorus: Glory, glory Hallelujah Can you hear them start to pray Glory, glory Hallelujah Everybody's on their way

I'm with Mike. It's got that French Quarter funeral flavor. Really, really good.

Michael - Thanks man! You being from the Bayou ...that's a great compliment. I really tried for a combination of a little Gypsy Jazz and a little New Orleans funeral feel mixed up with a dose of reality!
Dave - Thanks for the listen!...and the encouragement. Tony is a great guitar player and a good friend...we've been doing quite a lot together..
George - Kia Ora! Love spending time in NZ. Especially...Abel Tasman park and Takaka...Been there a few times and love the Bay of islands....Thanks..
Ricki - Very kind words.... I really like those two lines as well..... they seem so right....LOL

Hi Iggy,
This is excellent writing and a nice laid back lead vocal.
The music is like "Moondance" through a New Orleans filter. New Orleans mainly cuz that's where people go marching to the graveyard, and the music does allude to "second line" funeral music a little, too.
Nice guitar solo, as well..
I would not used a cheap sounding synth and then kept it low in the mix. Brass patches are the worst, imo. You could use real or better faked brass, and I'd have put the backup vocals higher in the mix, too, but there's not too much to nitpick, here. The lead vocal and arrangement are otherwise stellar.
Kudos to you and Toni!
Mike

Michael,
Thanks thanks for the listen and the crits....Yeah, I was rushed on the horns stuff. I'll definitely fix it with better, more upfront horns... after all it is New Orleans! I did enjoy doing the little sax riff over the bridge...though it sounded a little more like a clarinet LOL

Nice seeing you again!
Very nice lyric, just love it and agree with Michael, has a "Moondance" feel to it, but I also could hear it kicked up more New Orleans style because the lyric takes you there, but really enjoy what you did with this, great song!!
