Hey Brother Mackie, long time since I've been here and so nice to hear one of yours upon returning. Nice tune and wonderfully crafted lyric.

Michael--
Thanks for checking this one, and your positive thoughts--
I'm slowly, trying to get back to the basics of writing and recording!
Joe Walsh did several songs on the Kenny Chesney Concert here in Nashville--he can still play!

I appreciate your get back--I have been away for a while also.

Brother Mackie, I see you're still turning out pure gold.
A soulful vocal delivery and the way you're slapping those strings takes it to another level. Reminds me of Springsteen, in the coolest way possible.
Nicely done, indeed..

Dave-- I have slowed down with the song writing--guess you could say I'm spending more time aging gracefully--thanks for giving this one a positive wave!

Mister Nelson--
I'm still trying to put a little soul in my songs--Thanks for your feedback! I started with my girl SUNDOWN--seemed easier to sing the way it is written.

Mackie, I been wondering where you were.
You're back to where you should be, now.
Maybe you should change the title to "My friends call me Sundown" or "A girl called Sundown". I like it's simplicity and economy of words while still telling a story.

Vic--
I still love to write, but I have slowed down--I have a lot of living that I haven't written about--I still like to put a little truth in a song!
Thanks for your feedback!

Mackie: One of my favorites here. Your songs are always .. real! -- is there any better compliment than that. Good singing and playing. I enjoyed my mackie fix, it's been awhile I do believe.
You and Dave Rice ought to co-write a song, your styles would fit together just right.

Kevin--
Remember the old main frame computers--We had a lot of program cards with straps--we used a PACE MACHINE to keep the boards looking brand new--I still have my wire wrap gun and a roll of 24 silver wire--that was back in the day of fretless guitars!
Thanks for hanging with me as I am still learning!
Always appreciate your encouragement!

Loving this Mackie. The guitar sounds gritty and sad! The Sundown hook is perfect.
Love it.

Always love to hear you deliver that lonesome sound, Mackie. I enjoyed this one as well, but felt like maybe you could do a little more with your hook, or at least maybe express the same sentiments, but in a little different way. Just off the top of my head, maybe something along these lines just to give a bit more flavor to the chorus:
AIN’T NOBODY HERE THINKIN’ FOREVER Need to lay some mem'ries in the ground FORGET THE HURT that's haunting me Cheers to good whiskey and Miss SUNDOWN.
K/S of course. I enjoyed the listen nonetheless. -TK

TKO--
I APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK--I think you are right about the CH--I like the line: Need to lay some mem'ries in the ground--When I redo this one, I'll change some things, keeping your ideas in mind!

Mackie you seem like a great guy and I love the effort you put into your work. I WOULD like to see a bit more effort put in the chorus melody as it seemed the same as the verse until the 4th line. Best of luck! -Mike

Mike--
Thanks for your input--When I do a barebones recording, it's usually to just get the song laid down--I've done Co-Labs with several players through the years--Most of them are better than the original--If you are a player, you may know how to compose a melody that will make it a better song! None of my songs are carved in stone--JUST A PLACE TO START!
Thanks for your feedback--every idea posted, gets my consideration!

Well Mackie,
Your song's sittin' on the bottom of this front page shelf, and I hadn't heard it yet--I've not been around much however. Well my Montana friend, you're going back up to the top. I always enjoy your "genuine" songs--feel like I'm in the same room with just you and your guitar!

Eddie--
Thanks for listening to this one, and giving it a boost--I learn something new about my songs in your posts--
Harlan Howard once said: "put a little truth in the story and people will want to hear the song again". I try to sprinkle bits and pieces of my life, and folks that I've known, into my songs, hoping that one listener will get the intended emotion and message!
I appreciate your feedback.
