In February of 2013 I got signed to Tate Music Group. In August of 2013 my all acoustic album titled, "Who I Am," came out with the support of Tate Music Group. I am still working with them as they continue to promote my live performance schedule and of course my "Who I Am" album/CD! You can view my page hosted by Tate Music Group here. I purchased a redirect URL. www.frankporteracoustic.com Another success story I have experienced was winning first place in the Epiphone/Gibson sponsored guitar soloing competition called, "Guitarfest." The finals took place at the House of Guitars in Rochester, NY. A must visit if you are in that area! Here's a link to the announcement of the winners page that Epiphone has on their webpage. http://www.epiphone.com/News-Features/News/2008/Guitarfest-2008-Finals-.aspx

The publishing happened in 2013. The soloing contest was in 2008. The soloing skills are still in good shape in 2015. I thank you for your comment John! As for the complaints others have registered I have had none of those issues with Tate Music Group. I paid nothing to get signed as I know some other artists have.
They have delivered very nice looking CD's, posters, download cards, and always promote my live performances as well as aired a commercial on DISH network for my release. They even provided a copy of the commercial for me to use on the Internet or in press kits and anywhere else. I am aware that some artists have had trouble with them. They even have helped me book shows although they don't do as much as I would prefer in that area. All in all for me I have and still maintain a good relationship with them. I do not think they are the greatest label or anything like that but they have been very fair in their dealings with me personally.

Hi Frank:
It's always great to hear a success story... especially when the odds are so great and the opportunities are so few. Best of luck in the future and sincere congratulations for these two events.
Regards,
Dave Rice

Hi Aaron,
Thank you so much. I have worked long and hard and had a brush with getting signed by the label the band Phish was on and may still be on in 1989. We were to be signed. I had a female vocalist/lyricist and we were gigging regularly in upstate NY. Saranac Lake and surrounding areas. Our 4 set shows consisted of 36 originals and 4 cover songs as I recall. My partner decided to move back to Pennsylvania, "with or without me," just when things were getting serious.
They were actually coaching us about what was working best at our shows and they were ready to sign, record and book shows for us. We had a home studio song on local jukeboxes. I begged and pleaded with her to stay in upstate NY and do this but she did not. This is how I ended up in Pennsylvania. We had great chemistry.
To support my last statement sometime around 2010 or 2011 we got back together and within a couple months had our old setlist with a few new songs up to speed. We won an open mic at a place called, "Puck," in Doylestown, PA where the prize was to open for a national act.
There were some serious issues that she still had not gotten over. We were a couple in the 1980's and I had been married for 8 years when this, "reunion tour," happened. She wanted to be more and I had no intention of that. I really wanted to to do this for the right reasons and it was not meant to be. There's much more to this story but you probably get the idea.
Ay any rate I finally did get signed and the experience has been mostly positive and continues to be.
Thanks again!
Frank
