The problem with getting rid of Religion is you then get rid of the rules that hold civilization together.
I want something? I take it. You complain? I kill you.
It's only seemingly universal religious rules such as "treat others as you want to be treated" that keep a civilization, well, civilized. If man were inherently docile we would have been hunted out of existence long ago.

I don't believe that at all Sue. Man would have always come to the conclusion that hurting other people physically and killing them is bad, religion or no religon.
I'll quote Omar from The Wire. " a man gotta have a code"

Tell that to the Neanderthals, Aaron. I'd have to ask Omar; "Why"?
There is no civilization that wasn't based on some sort of religion.

The extremist element is present in EVERY faith and equally repugnant when it tries to justify their actions as the will of God.
But the issue is not religion, it's that people don't live by what it teaches.
Just because there are folks who take a narrow interpretation of a section of writings and use it to justify their behaviour does not mean the religion is at fault.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Blah Blah Blah Blah. People have been reading too many left wing news sources and misunderstanding tainted history books written by left wing historians. But it's all relative because the GOP who now have that power they said they needed have capitulated 100% of the time so far to anything Obama wants because in the end, the real problem we face is the "Ruling Class" in the USA and around the world is using ALL of us as pawns in their power grabs and money making schemes. A pox on both "sides" which never allow a free thought in their head that doesn't come out of the processed end of their "sides" informers. Until the "left" and "faux right" (which is simply the left in disguise) remembers we have a constitution and a representative Republic where the power is supposed to reside with the people, not the ruling class, we'll never have a positive outcome. Free speech is being crushed, they are about to clamp down on the Internet in the USA with reams of new regulations which are too secret to share with anyone until they are put into effect, our leaders do not follow our constitution, the do not follow the concept of 3 separate but equal branches of government and they do not care a lick about what the "people" actually want before dictating to us what our lives can and can't be. We live in a soft tyranny with a soft dictatorship which keeps us just comfy enough to lazily continue to cede power to them until at some point they will tighten the noose for good and have us all on a leash.
Our founders predicted every now and then the people would need to rise up and cleanse the sewage out of our political veins and that time is long overdue. But I think collectively we are simply too fat and happy with our easy lives to realize the horrors that are rising up all around us.
As they wage war on 8 year old girls, raping, torturing, placing into slavery or simply exterminating children by the 100's and 1000's every day, we sit around and debate Republican and Democrat talking points fed to us by liars on both sides.
I also find it interesting that our friends who are not US Citizens here are not pointing to how their own governments are doing anything worthwhile to address all this. Stop waiting for the USA to do everything first. The Canadian military could go in, organize the Middle Eastern troops along with their own and fix this just as the French, British, Germans etc. could do the same. But instead they prefer debating the USA actions, history and plans while never mentioning what their people are currently doing (or not doing).
Folks, stop being a pawn for these power players. While they shake a shiny object over there, you can be certain they are really doing the REAL damage under cover and out of site. Obama and the Republican leaders alike are simply bit players in a bigger game being played on all of us.
But that's just my opinion... I could be right.

politics and religion aside, the problem is: apparently ISIS read the rule book and they play by it. Almost every major military defeat or victory in the last 2300 years can be traced to ignoring or understanding Sun Tzu's rules of strategy.

When 5% of the population in North America hold 95% of the wealth, we know which group controls the governments. Which ever party is "elected" they will do the bidding of those billionaires that pull the puppet strings. Big business will cause wars all over the world if it helps their businesses to grow even larger. Greed and pride are the two worst sins that plague humanity.
True Christianity is not a religion, it is a fellowship, a following of Jesus Christ. Many denominations use the name of God and Jesus Christ to exert control and push their agenda, what ever that may be, they can be called religious, but not Christian in the true sense of the word. The people, true Christians are the church, not the buildings or the organizations. Unfortunately, the hierarchy of these organizations can be politically motivated in holding their position of power, that they lose sight of their true reason of existence, which is to preach the true gospel to all the world.

Whazzat?, 5 percent of the population in North America hold 95 percent of the wealth we know what group controls the government. Wanna Bet? All you have to do is look at the last two presidential elections. The "Inmates" did the voting. With Cousin "Weak Eyes" in the White House trying for all he is worth to Re-Distribute the Wealth, and the people with the wealth trying to keep from getting skinned by, you guessed it, the peasants, who is in control is a great question. Our National Debt is on Auto Pilot. Guess who put that in place?

Geez Brian, I laid out the historical context for the region, which is, in summary, Western and primarily US, English and French interference for the sake of oil and Israel, and the long standing enmity between sects of islam.
Then I said military intervention is needed to deal with it because dialogue won't do. This is obvious when you see what they are doing to the people they "rule"
Then I said we are "in that time" when opinions and forces are mobilizing. (remind me again of that period when the US was sitting out WWI and WWII while the rest of the world ---including Canada--was at war--nations do not go to full scale war over night.)
All was in response to "how did we get here" and "what should we do"?
To dismiss this as left wing blah blah blah, then to go on and blame Obama and those "who pull the world's economic strings" shows you really don't understand the power of historical forces and seminal events that act as catalysts of upheaval.
ISIS is there and strong, not because of Obama and unseen powers but because of a long range of historical events that allowed unrest to ferment and the Syrian civil war to happen.
Now, could there have been a better response, a quicker reaction? Yup, Monday morning quarterbacking certainly allows us to say that, but here one of your points does raise its ugly head.
The Elephants and Donkeys are far more interested in destroying each other than providing good government...which is why I said elect those who will be able to deal with the situation and create a lasting solution.
AND, as Aaron pointed out, Canada has been there for several months now, flying missions, providing boots on the ground, and training military personnel. The US and other countries, like Jordan, Iran, and tribes such as the Kurds, etc are also there fighting.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

I wish ISIS was our only concern but then there's also this mess http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/ukr...ar-says-former-envoy-to-canada-1.2964887Ukraine's deputy foreign minister says he is preparing for "full-scale war" against Russia and wants Canada to help by supplying lethal weapons and the training to use them. Canada has the most Ukranians outside of former USSR states. The Gretzkys are Ukrainians! Leaves us in a difficult situation.

Good Lord, Aaron, after WW-1 most of the Western Powers De-Militarized because they thought there would be no more World Wars. WW-1 was referred to as the Great War. But, we all know WW-2 came along and the West had to build up it's Military. Since then nobody is going to reduce it's Military for the most part. As you know, well most people know, that we went thru the Cold War. Now your Friend Putin is trying to Re-Invent the Glory Days of the Soviet Union. To Coin a Phrase, there were no Glory Days in the old Soviet Union. The State Controlled everything. Workers were implored to produce more. But there was nothing in it for them but long hours of misery. So they said, if we produce more today, the state will expect us to produce more from now on. So they rebelled.
Our esteemed Leader here in the U.S. is trying to Re-Invent the Old Soviet Union where the State Controls everything. The latest is Health Care and giving up the store to all the Illegals.
Humm, let's see, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

All of this is about the protection of the petro Dollar. Nothing more or less.
With countries like China/India/Russia starting to trade in non US dollars this puts the US dollar at risk because once the Petro dollar is no longer king we got a whole lot of debt to worry about. As long as the Petro dollar is king nobody is going to rock the boat about our ridiculous printing of money (quantitive easing). They have too many dollars on their books to complain. And the Euro is tied directly to the dollar and both the EU and UK are busy printing up their own monies.

Things are escalating? http://www.todayszaman.com/diplomac...d-into-syria-to-protect-tomb_373272.htmlA Turkish lawmaker has claimed that a number of Turkish tanks have reportedly entered into northern Syria to protect the Turkish property that was said to be facing a possible attack by Islamist radicals. National Movement Party (MHP) Iğdır deputy Sinan Oğan said on his Twitter feed early on Sunday that Turkish army crossed into Syria and entered into the tomb "without any incident or a skirmish." He claimed that the army is now in full control over the tomb, which is situated in a territory considered as a Turkish land. Citing various claims, private Cihan news agency reported that witnesses spotted at least 40 tanks entering into Syria through Mürşitpınar Border gate earlier on Saturday. Turkish army didn't confirm the reports. No government official was immediately available to comment. The reports, which was widely shared on the social media too, asserted that Turkish units in Şanlıurfa's Suruç district left their positions and entered into Syria to protect the tomb of Süleyman Şah, grandson of the founder of Ottoman Empire. The reports came two days after Turkish Interior Minister Efkan Ala denied claims that Turkish troops guarding the tomb of Süleyman Şah have been unable to cross into Turkey due to extremist Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants who have surrounded the tomb since March 2014, saying the allegations are baseless. The claims were first raised by journalist Metehan Demir late last month. He wrote on his personal blog that the soldiers have been trapped in the tomb for the past 11 months, and that ISIL has been providing water and food to the soldiers, as supplies from Turkey have not been delivered since March. Demir also wrote that there is usually a change of guard every two or three months, but the 40 soldiers stationed there have not changed since last March. The tomb, guarded by a few dozen Turkish soldiers, is considered Turkish territory under a 1921 Franco-Turkish agreement.

Yes but not because they weren't religious. It had zilch to do with not being religious and you know it.
Hey didn't god flood the earth and kill most of everything on it? Did he not burn cities to the ground? Kill the first born son in Egypt?
I find it funny that people will demonize atheists but completely skip over the genocides committed by their gods.
So why is the world so afraid of atheists? Apparently americans would rather trust a muslim politician than an atheist one according to a poll i read. Islamic countries lock them up. Hel in the US in some states you cannot run for office if youre an atheist.
People like Sue, so scared of atheists she will slander them. Why you so scared Sue? Afraid your [naughty word removed] will come undone when people figure it out that atheists aren't to be feared?

Wow, There is an old saying out there. Let sleeping dogs lie. Isis is stoking the Pot. Soon to get up and bite back.
Aaron you should stay away from Religion. You don't know nothing about it. Of course this has nothing to do with Religion. Playing God can be extremely hazardous to your health. Hitler found that out. Next!

Wait Aaron ... you atheists seem to have no problem saying whatever you want about any religion but as soon as someone says something negative about atheism the person saying it is slanderous???
How about, what's wrong with you that your afraid to accept the truth that some of your atheist brethren have murdered more people than all the religious leaders combined in all of history and your two brethren did it in less than 75 years....I will say they at least were efficient.

Sue, if you're going to blame natural disasters & very severe, widespread, Chinese drought on atheism, you've totally lost the plot. Mao didn't chop up and murder all of those people. I am sure he killed some of them as any dictator does. Most of them died from hunger due to unforseen circumstances, bureaucratic and policies failure such as communism. When there is no food there is no food. At that point they had to diversify their country and move towards as being an agricultural one. It was do or die and millions died. The number however is disputed but yeah tens of millions died. But to blame all of that on the fact that Mao didn't believe in a God is absurd. China is who they are now because of Mao. That can also be disputed.
And I am not saying Mao was a good guy. His policies clearly failed his people at that time but atheism and communism are not the same thing.
Atheism doesn't cause people to die. Communist policies do.
Atheism isn't a religion.
I am an atheist. I don't belong to any group. Nobody are "my guys".
I don't believe in God and that's all.
Anyway, I am bowing out of this thread. It serves no purpose anymore.

Hi Fellow "Threadsters:"
This topic has just about run its course. In the final analysis, to me it was a great disappointment to see so many have given up on the values that made Canada and the United States great nations. The United States replaced the English Colonies which were established more in the name of freedom of religion than any other perceived right... and for many, a desire to rid themselves of the yoke of the Church of England. It was not a desire to rid themselves from Almighty God.
The Ten Commandments make up the foundation of our judicial system... although they are ridiculed by a minority of individuals who view them as absolute law that limits their ability to not believe in anything. You are not required by our Government to follow any religious belief... but you should also not expect us to give up our God-given, constitutional rights.
This topic was supposed to be about the incredible barbaric actions of a group calling themselves ISIS or ISIL. One of you believes and complained that the only people who have shown the courage to fight these thugs, the Kurdish Peshmerga, has stated that the Kurds are no better than ISIS because they extract an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth with their captives. I have not seen this reported in our press or media.
While I would prefer they (the Kurds) operate under the umbrella of the Geneva Convention in the treatment and care of captured combatants, I can understand that they would deal out "rough justice" against those who practice the same manner of brutality and lack of civilized behavior. To me, this only highlights the severity of the problem with ISIS. They are Barbarians operating under a brutal and archaic interpretation of the Koran.
It further pains me to have Religion blamed for the problems of the world. Am I the only person here who lived during WWII? Our nation prayed to the "Man Upstairs" as often as possible. Many who claimed to be non-religious... were found in their foxholes praying for deliverance on a frequent basis.
If Atheism is one's choice, that is a personal decision. I do not condemn nor condone that belief. It is a choice. I do prefer that those of you who think this way, stop spewing hate about religion. The Christians are not known in the modern era for acting like Barbarians and fomenting trouble with other denominations in the form of violence... unless violence is first thrust upon them.
Even then, there are those true believers who refuse to defend themselves. (I am not one of those, and to me, that is a regrettable thing.) It is very difficult to be a true practicing Christian in today's world where corrupt and intolerable laws are passed to make a mockery of what we stand for as a Nation. Even when we have cast our ballots in a clear majority in nearly every state in the United States... with a stroke of a pen, Judges and Justices sweep away the key element of democracy with their non-elected opinions.
I predict this is the area of the Triangle of the American System of Government that must be changed to allow us to limit their time in office and force them to stand for election by the registered, legal voters of this country. They are guilty of legislating from the bench.
Yeah, I know... we are a Republic and not a true Democracy... but we need to allow the majority to rule if we are to survive as a nation. Otherwise, let's stop "bandying" the expression that we are a Democratic People. I also contend that God is the true ruler of this nation and we need to bring the ten commandments back into every court room in this land. It is the backbone of civilization. Without the commandments, we are little more than a massive mob.
Study our history and read the sacrifices our forefathers made to establish what has been the greatest country on earth. Usurpers in our midst will destroy us if we allow them to do so.
Considering the direction we appear to be taking... Revolution will occur when enough of you are tired of being robbed of your inheritance... and seeing your children and grand-children pushed into the abyss. Education will mean nothing if there are no jobs.
With all of this said... I urge Brian or Kevin to "close this thread." I will not convince those of you who lean to the left... and you sure as hell will never convince me of the sanity of your positions. Let's get back to Music and stop "sniping" at each other.
Be Prepared... the bad times are coming if a reasonable semblance of democracy is not restored.
Dave

Atheist believe there is no God, they can not prove that, they take it on faith, which makes them a religion unto them selves. One day they will face the God they don't believe in to be judged. Christians believe(by faith) there is one true God, as told in the bible, and much said in the bible has come to pass, but there is more yet to come, this is a form of proof to me, The bible says " he who says there is no God is a fool". The bible says in the last days Christians will have their heads cut off because of their belief in Jesus. That is happening now. It also says that those that does this believe that they do God's work. All this was written down thousands of years ago and is now coming to pass. This is proof to me.

To get back to the original topic -
Ain al-Asad air base is surrounded by ISIS. There are 320 U.S. Marines stationed there. Why are these Marines not being reinforced? Why is the last news report of this two weeks old?
If the base is over-run and taken, which is a real possibility – are you ready to watch U.S. Marines slowly burn to death on video?
What will be Benito Obamalini's response to that? Strong condemnation followed by references to moral equivalency between Christian “atrocities” and Islam?
ISIS? Kill them all. Obliterate them. Do it now or be forced to do it later. Pick one.

Dave,
Though I haven't thrown my 2 cents in here anywhere, and usually do not with such topics, you make a good summary of this discussion and demonstrate how we the US as primarily a Christian Nation have created a State with the backbone of our laws based on the ten commandments--generally speaking when it comes to civil obedience. I do however, disagree that this topic has run it's course, it could go on indefinitely actually being a current event and ongoing phenomenon. People will have different view points, some more radical than others, some perhaps narrow minded, and some exceedingly liberal, some astute, others ridiculous, whatever. Isn't that what make interesting forums? JPF has plenty of "music" forums, no one has to come here.
God help us NOT to ever engage in Nuclear War for sure IMO, as that could destroy the world's commerce which could make every nation's economic struggles rely on "survival of the fittest mentality." (not to mention the loss of lives/physical damage/ residual health issues) People are "greedy" in good times, imagine bad times?
Our world's problems IMO, will need to be tackled by the leader's of our times with very "cool" and practical mind-sets--not sure that's possible however. But if all countries/States/Republics begin building a "New World Federation" that has some real teeth, to integrate, regulate, monitor the world's commerce in such a way that every country can have hope for "reasonable" prosperity, ie. a working ecomomy/food/shelter/clothing/education for all, we may someday be an "Earth Federation" of countries--united, yet culturally independent. I'm not describing a "Utopia," that's where everything is perfect. We need to internationally educate the YOUTH of the world to respect and better understand each other's cultures and rid us of our indifferences with religion, as that personal part of our lives needs to be just that personal. No culture will be permitted to "brainwash" their children to hate such is now the case, else severe consequences will ensue.
JFK said in a speech directed in view of the Civil Rights movement--but applies here:
"We all breath the same air, we all cherish our children's future, and we are all mortal; when power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations."
Or like John Lennon said: "Imagine."
One more thing, Everett, I am certainly NO atheist, but I'm not sure I agree with you that Atheist's are a religion. To have "faith," you have to believe in proposed idea/religion/person/God. Though you could argue that both religion and atheism are philosophies, one is based on believing in "nothing" when it comes to a God, so it's based on "lack of faith" IMO.
Though it could be surmised that I'm just an "idealist," with an unrealistic solution to world's "terrorist" concerns, I don't think so; we have to aggressively combat this horrific animal unilaterally at every opportunity, but for a world to have peace long term, I believe it will have to be eventually need to be Federated, with a very strong inherent organization to never allow that power within the framework to be controlled by any one entity. Hopefully we don't destroy ourselves before common sense and compassion for one another can be achieved. It may require a plan with graduated steps over the period of many years, but even if it takes a century, it may be our salvation as a planet. "Like Barry said, religion cannot be part of the solution."

For the sake of making people think outside the box a bit, remember Maslow's hierarchy of needs... https://3diassociates.wordpress.com/2012/12/21/fully-evolved-human-beings-are-we-there-yet/maslow-5/And consider where the first world countries are located compared to third world countries. For the most part, the first world has all the basics covered and we exist near the top of the triangle. People like the ISIS tribes are way down in the triangle and are looking for food and shelter on a daily basis. I doubt if most of the ISIS fighters have a clue what they are fighting for...just that if they sign on, they might get a few square meals and some leadership and a bit of fun shooting people and chasing those virgins. And don't forget the much wider disparity between the haves and the have-nots in Africa and the Middle East compared to the west. The haves live in swank high rise buildings paid for by oil money while the have-nots live in the desert and cook on fires fueled with camel dung. I don't have any good answers except to say that we would be better off isolating them from us and vice versa rather than trying to nuke 'em (which would be like trying to nuke Arizona and New Mexico).

Well Brother Dave, When the Pilgrims came to the New World they came to "Get Rid" of Big Government, not Re-Invent it. However Good People, with good intentions started trying to improve the Model. Without looking it up, the first Federal Income Tax was passed about 1913. Heck, with a few taxes we can fix things and improve them.
But what we got was "Mission Creep". Today the Mindset of a lot of people, who never went thru any hard times, think everything should be free.
Our Feerless Leader, who has about zero experence in real life, thinks the Country need transforming into what I don't know. The last 6 years has been an adventure in doing everyting in reverse. Passing "Obama" Care is like passing a income Tax in 1913. All with good intentions, I might add. But we all know the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
But, if a little bit is good, a lot should be great, right? Yearly 1 Trillion Deficits should be the way to go, right?
Giving the illegals Citizenship should be good for the economy, right? And those Isis people are just mis understood people that need a job. Just when you think you've seen everything something new pops up.
Who cares that the U.S. Constitution has been shreaded to hell the last 100 years?
I think those words of that statesman over 200 years ago who said, We had all better hang together or we will all hang seperately, is truer than ever.

Ray, wait till they get to "Net Nutrality" where they make everything better for us by controlling the Internet. These conversations will have to stop at that point.

Marc,
The League of Nations and the Later United Nations had members, and both were primarily designed more to avoid War through negotiations/arbitration/ enforcing sanctions if needed. So yes Marc, but what I'm talking about would be a Federation with a much broader concept, designed to not just mitigate current world differences, but a Federation designed to evolve in bringing the world State's together to co-exist and to quell the radical nit-wits--and if "enclosing them in" as Colin afore mentioned is necessary, then so be it. It may be even possible to cut their internet/satellite capability through technology. The Federation needs to control the economics/political disputes/environmental issues and protect and secure the future for our planet Earth. Earth is not such a big place anymore!--regulated & administrated for the good of all from an unbiased leadership--do I think it will happen, no. If so, how long would it take for it be effective--a long time, because radical changes will take more than one generation to be able to compromise this much power safely. We live in a world where having the "biggest club" may not save the day, therefore we need to find answers not for only or temporarily stopping terrorists of this day, but to create a world where they just can't get started easily and find a place of refuge--not saying it is an easy task. We've been here for over a million years, a century isn't very long relatively speaking. Our grandkids or great grandkids may enjoy the fruits of world peace and "reasonable economic equity"--a good thing.
Good points Colin.

Net Neutrality is what we currently have...CHANGING AWAY FROM Net Neutrality is what would allow the internet to be doled out as others see fit.

Steady-eddie. That is precisely what ISIS seeks to achieve. A World government. Thanks, but I'll keep the messy one we have.

Wow. To compare Isis, a terrorist desired autocracy with an organization designed in stages over time by responsible people to thwart movements like such as Isis is so absurd and absolutely ridicules.......it is not even in the same universe with "precisely." You need to study your history a bit better--but hey thanks for your opinion!

Your “organization” sounds very similar to the Caliphate that ISIS is establishing. “....to quell the radical nit-wits-- …..” Who decides who the 'nit-wits' are? You? A committee of commissars? “The Federation needs to control the economics/political disputes/environmental issues and protect and secure the future for our planet Earth.” There is a word for that already, Eddie. It's called fascism. Pass.

Marc. I have to disagree. It all comes down to cash and territory. If you don't have that you got nothing. Find their bankers and defeat them first. Then they lose their territory because they can't feed their followers. Seems simple and I know it's far from that but one step at a time. Vic

Fascists wanted to displace those weaker countries and take them over, not help them as well as rule with a strong central leader for power control. You're looking at my idealistic view point from a paranoid perspective and I get how you could fear or distrust such ideology should it happen too quickly and controlled by too few. -- I'm not advocating that State governments would not have power over their own countries, but a world Federation that binds us together morally. That's why I why I spoke of a gradual process to bring unity to this world, certainly not oppression of the weak. Enough said, I don't claim that I have the best solution; I do believe however in this world we live with the real dangers of enemies we cannot see or just bomb off the map; a strategy or concept is needed that is based on saving this world from the nit-wits which may possibly or eventually be our only hope.
But really, do you think that I'm promoting fascism? Ludicrous. I don't think you really do, but maybe you just enjoy inciting contention or sensationalizing the issue rather than just debating or sharing ideas--similar on a smaller scale why people can't agree--egos just get in the way. If you have a better idea than just sticking with the status quo I'd love to hear it. Maybe you are right as well when you said let's just stick to how our government is presently handling the terrorist threats in our world, I'm certainly no political scientist, just someone who would like to see terrorism die. I just think for the long run, we need long run ideologies to keep the nuts from spoiling this beautiful planet, as band-aides don't last.
I have no more to say, cheers, see you in the music threads. I didn't catch your name, mine's Ed.

Steady Eddie and Vic,
The "Federation" and territory are exactly what ISIS and most Islamic people are talking about. But in their world THEY would be the federation. And it is called SHARIA LAW. It is total subjigation of anyone that does not believe and adhere to their ways.
Money is not the issue because many of the suicide bombers come from wealthy family. Osama Bin Laden was a billionaire. It is not their focus nor their desire. And as far as territory, they do want that. The world. And it is as old as civiliztion itself. The same as Gengis Khan, Napoleon and Adolph Hitler did. Control everything for your purpose. And in Sharia, it is to bring about the end of times, the same as Everett talks about.

I agree Marc. Maybe "Federation" is a mis-leading term to some degree, and that is why I mentioned "unbiased" control and general agreement from all country's that seriously want a world where there can be reasonable stability and thwart terrorism and it's radical ideologies. Isis doesn't want Americans to be part of their idealistic world, they would as soon destroy us--that is the difference between evil and good perhaps. It's the motive and purpose behind controlling bodies that are important. The Moslem world is not evil, just the radical fanatics there and now elsewhere that convince themselves that their religion supports their cause.
I know my thoughts have been "extremely" idealistic, and perhaps too simplistic in general--but I'm speaking in general as someone has to develop a "world outline" for the future, and it has to be a collective effort from world powers over time that has certain authorities or regulations that are accepted by all countries. What else will EVER bring the world together? There will never be agreement. I'm really pretty much just saying what John Lennon was saying when he wrote "Imagine," with the exception that he wasn't concerned about the terrorism that we have today, else it might have had a part within his song.
A world can't function without governments & their administration, so how do we collectively do this? Certainly a long range plan is needed IMO. How much progress are we making, it's hard to measure--I wish I had answers, I have only rough ideas, that's all.
Marc, Thanks, for your sincerity.

There is a system coming that will bring peace to the world, it is Theocracy. But before it come about the world is going to go through a rough time called tribulations. But we won't have to wait much longer, all the signs are falling into place that the bible said to watch for. The world government that man will set up will be seriously flawed like all governments through out history, but the one that Jesus will lead will be honest and fair but ruled with a rod of iron. The bible is the greatest history book ever written because it tells history before it happens. Read it and be in the know.

9dB, Bob, (thank-you for that),
My tongue wasn't the first sharp one here, so you'll get a reflection like that from me for sure. The matter is concluded.
Everett,
You may be right, and maybe our destiny is just in His hands. Surely sad that there has to be "hate" in this world. But in the mean time, GOOD should collectively fight and harness evil IMO.

As a gentleman, I'd prefer not, as I said the matter is concluded.
(Sorry Kevin), great topic, interesting opinions/incite for sure--one thing for certain, this world stage is a chess game let's hope we achieve progress with containment of the nit-wits of the world. Adieu.
