This is the first lyric Roger and I have collabed on in quite some time. We'd appreciate any thoughts and suggestions.
Reach The Light © 2015 Roger Sosnowski and Greg C. Brown As I lie here in this bed I can feel you hesitate. You’re torn with indecision, Should we do this now or wait.
If I could speak I’d tell you I’m not feeling any pain. It’s time for us to say goodbye, My love, we’ll meet again. CHORUS If only you could see What’s waiting there for me, It would make this easy for you ‘Cause you’d know that you are right. Please don’t cry, my darling, I’m at peace and I’m okay Because your final gift would be To help me Reach the Light. I can still remember when, That summer night in ’65, I met a red-haired beauty Who made me come alive.
And now, five decades later, Lord, my life is so complete. The love I know you’ve shared with me Will make my passing sweet. CHORUS If only you could see What’s waiting there for me, It would make this easy for you ‘Cause you’d know that you are right. Please don’t cry, my darling, I’m at peace and I’m okay Because your final gift would be To help me Reach the Light. BRIDGE This machine's not really me, I'm stuck between here and where I should be Shut it down and set me free, Oh love, if you could see what I see.
CHORUS If only you could see What’s waiting there for me, It would make this easy for you ‘Cause you’d know that you are right. Please don’t cry, my darling, I’m at peace and I’m okay Because your final gift would be To help me Reach the Light.

Hi Greg and Roger,
Tragic story and very well written. How I wish we could know, in situations like this, what the dying person is really thinking.

Hi Lisa. Thanks for giving this a looksee. Wouldn't it be nice if we could get some sort of sign or signal saying it's okay to pull the plug? I've never had to make that decision, but I can only imagine the anxiety and guilt that a family endures in such a situation.
We appreciate you chiming in on this.

Roy,
Thanks for taking a look at this and for your very good suggestions. Many of them make sense and would work nicely I think. I'll confer with Roger and see what he thinks.
Glad you liked this.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for taking your time to give this one a look at. That has to be one of the hardest decisions to make--and thankfully I have not hd to do that. I do know several who have gone through that. So it go t me to thinking that I had not seen a song about that and liek Brad Paisley says--In country we do(write about everything). The hard part was trying to make it not be too depressing. Thanks again and take care, Roger

Hi Roy,
There you are. I was looking under lyrics #1 and didn't see you there. I'm glad some of the regulars are still here, lol. Thanks for your suggestions--they all fit very well for me. Greg and I will talk it over. Hope you're doing well. I've kind of lost touch with many over the last 2 years due to work and personal things going on. I'm hoping to turn that around. Take care, Roger

Some serious stuff here. It reads as much like a conversation as it does a song lyric. 1965 seems like a long time ago.

Hey Greg and Roger,
Well you two have pulled off a tough one -- conveying this controversial and heart-wrenching scenario in an appropriately touching fashion. What a nightmare for all parties involved. One can't help but think of Whitney Houston's daughter, going through this doubly-tragic time.
Lyrically, I do think Roy's suggestions had merit, but clearly, you two boys should be collabing more often...
Thanks for sharing, Beth

Jim,
Sorry for the late reply. I just had a birthday and you're right, 1965 (as well as the X number years before that) seems longer ago than ever.
Thanks for taking a look at this for us.

Beth,
Thanks for taking a few minutes to check out our lyric, and for your nice comments. Glad you thought it was worth the effort. Roger and I are definitely going to try to crank out some more.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for taking time to go over this one. 1965 is most definitely a long time ago--yet at times it seems like just yesterday. Take care, Roger

Hi Beth, Thanks for taking time to look this one over. I'm glad you liked it and Greg and I both agree Roy's suggestions are pretty good. It seems like both Greg and I disappeared for a couple of years,lol--we're hoping to change that trend. Take care, Roger

A difficult subject but one many are faced with,I'm not too convinced there's an afterlife but I suppose it comforts those who really believe and need to believe they will meet up with their loved ones once again. Good lyric guys well written Travis

Thanks, Travis. I happen to believe, but not because I know for certain. Same with my religious beliefs. I don't understand a lot of what I'm told, but I find great comfort in it. I guess that's enough.
Glad you like the lyric. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Hi Travis,
Thanks for taking time to look this one over. I believe mainly because no one can answer--where did the very first anything come from, lol. Whether it's the big bang theory--well where did the energy for the big bang originate from? Also it's been said energy cannot be destroyed--only changed. So where does the energy in a human body go? Lol--something none of us will ever know I'm sure. Take care, Roger
