Hi folks, it's been some years since I've posted, though I have visited and read the news letters.
I'm working on a new CD 'Trance to Heaven - A Chakra Dance Meditation. The concept for this CD follows the Sufi Dance Meditation style. Sufi Dance Meditation, is a customary dance performed within the Sema, or worship ceremony, through which dervishes (also called semazens) aim to reach the source of all perfection, or kemal. This is sought through abandoning one's nafs, egos or personal desires, by listening to the music, focusing on God, and spinning one's body in repetitive circles, which has been seen as a symbolic imitation of planets in the Solar Systemorbiting the sun. As explained by Sufis.
In this song: Throat Chakra – Say what you mean. Mean what you say, There are numerous string tracks, piano, vibraphone, upright bass, percussion, temple bells and Tibetan Gong sounds, sitar, and my favorite part in the presto section; two dueling bass parts featuring the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum and a surprise dramatic monster string section.
Let me know how the music makes you feel or where it took you or a memory or a magical journey.
Just click on the Soundclick link below. The page opens with the song Trk 6 - Throat Charka - Say what you mean. Mean what you say.

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13046398All you have to do is copy and paste it like this. This should work for you. I like this. Is your flute in there? If so, I didn't catch it. I can't say this took me anyplace deeply inward as it was too busy to be meditative. It's more of an outward dance and movement piece for me, nothing wrong with that. 11:30 minutes of head bobbing and I found it hard to keep still in my chair so, that's a good thing. Very cool. Thanks for sharing your art. Ricki

Ricki, thanks for the feed back. Bobbing in your chair, that speaks volumes. I copied and pasted what you had, but still nothing.
I will lay my flute down at some point.

Latteta,
A great listen. Not what I think of as "meditative", but, definitely "trance".
Very well put together. Terrific mix.
I enjoyed it. Impressive.

Hi Latteta:
As FJ says, "Trance" seems most descriptive. I kept expecting a flute solo like the others and assumed it was simply drowned-out by the percussive instruments. Reminded me of Dervishes and certainly had hints of India here and there. You have a great deal of talent.

Throat Chakra - Say what you mean. Mean what you say http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13046398 Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. No, my flute, Akmute is not present in this mix. However, she shall make an appearance soon. it's important to get the music just right. Meaning not only balances and volumes but also the energy mix and over all sound of the composition. The song needs to be able to work on its own without Akmute. In other words, folks who don't know that I play flute or who are not especially expecting anything else other than what they are listening to will judge the experience on its own merit. There are 406 measures in this song. I plan to score it for live performance. Already I have envisioned the bass section (about 6 players) all dressed like the 'men in black' sun shades and all... rock'n out while they play. And the dueling electric bass parts in the presto section will be choreographed as well. I can't wait! This song was intuitively composed with Akmute in mind, using Presonus Studio One and Garritan Orchestral Library VSTs plug-ins from my Finale orchestration-Aria software. Thanks again!

Very enjoyable! It did remind me of spinning...loved the build-up and slow addition of percussion and other instruments. Thanks for the background information as well. You are very talented!

Jen, thank you so much for your reply. Everyone's input helps me. In the presto section, there are those strings that I refer to as the dark strings. After listening and listening, like for the first 20 times, those strings reminded me of Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet... it's the feeling I get when I listen to his \Capulets and Montagues segment. Thanks again.
