This is one I wrote last year that I have redone for this year. The mix sounds good through headphones, not so much through computer speakers, so still tweaking. Feedback always appreciated! Thanks for the listen! http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12951885The Perfect Present Words and music written and performed by Todd G. Strachan 2013 Have you found the perfect present? That big elusive prize? What your looking for, can’t be found in a store No matter how you try. Cause what you seek is fleeting, A chasing after the wind. The Perfect Present was born in rags, And wise men called Him king. All the hustle and bustle, The rushing to and fro. You carry bag after bag, And still you look sad, But that’s just how it goes. Cause what you seek is fleeting, A chasing after the wind. The Perfect Present was born in rags, And wise men called Him king. You’re searching in futility For that which you will never find. For the joy that you seek Has never been chic And the world will always deny, The Perfect Present Do you know The Perfect Present? The one hung on the tree? Who poured out his blood, That we may live, Right there on Calvary? Cause what you seek is fleeting, A chasing after the wind. The Perfect Present was born in rags, And wise men called Him king Cause what you seek is fleeting, A chasing after the wind. The Perfect Present was born in rags, And wise men called Him king And wise men called Him king.

A good seasonal song Todd which you have managed to strike a happy balance between the traditional and contemporary and it worked well. Best of luck with it Travis

Todd,
a good write.
sounds to me like you need to spread your mix out a little. it's coming across as everything centered. perhaps pan the guitar about 40% to one side. Would be nice to have a complimentary guitar at 40% on the other side - an acoustic would work well. And pan the harmonies, too.
Everything sounds good. Just needs a little space.
I enjoyed it.

Got a nice one coming along here, Todd. Love the drum track and those vocal harmonies are primo. You’ve done a bang up job on the lyrics as well, love the message.

A good write and an effective hook. I do agree with floyd that some panning would really open the song up.
Enjoyed it!

flod Thanks for the listen Floyd, and the feedback. I use a DP 01 to record with, and it only has 8 tracks. I have the guitar panned 100 left and 100 right, the drums and bass center as well as the main vocal, and I have the bgv's panned 40 left and right. I have tried the comp recording and just can't get the hang of it, so I guess I need to upgrade to the DP 32. Thanks again FloydI will start over when I get the new rig. Todd
