"Snakes on a plane" ain't got nothin' on me, Everett!

Last week, a houseguest was sitting on the front porch late at night when he looked up above him and a snake was crawling along a ledge above him and making a meal out of a baby bird from a nest in the corner of the roof. The snake then slithered back and to a perch on the top of a window ledge directly above where he had been sitting.

After taking a picture and Googling, we learned that it was simply a rat snake, which are legendary climbers. But noneletheless, it remained on it's perch on the top window ledge.

Being the intrepid soul that I am, and being willing to screech and run like a schoolgirl if necessary, I went out, armed with 2 rakes and a large garbage can on wheels.

I managed to nudge the snake enough to have it start wrapping itself around the rake, at which point I moved the rake over the garbage can and shook it until the little bugger fell in. I then slammed the lid down, and rolled the can half a mile through my neighborhood and across a major street, where I was able to tip the can over as the lid popped off and the snake had the good sense to crawl out and off into the woods...I then spent the rest of the day strutting like a peacock:-)

If I had been Adam(or Eve), the world would never have fallen, because I'da never gotten close enough to the derned snake to be tempted by it.

after another crazy week, I'm just now starting the song a week process.....better late than never, I finally settled on an idea and am just about to begin the tracking.....on sunday, the day it's due....no doubt.

hoping I can beat the clock today, midnight or bust!

p.s. I don't expect this thread to go very far because most people thrive on bad news(or at least think they do).

Today's good news:

You're still alive, and there's probably a song in your head.

There's still two beatles in the world, and they're still producing music.

You've done something good in the last twenty four hours and have probably just forgotten about it.

Somebody loves you and would be crushed if you were not around anymore.

If you really want it, you can have it, just hold that picture in your mind.

I have tunes in my head even when Im doing something completely different.

Good thing? I Coaxed a small cat onto the sidewalk while running, it was sitting in the middle of the street ready to get run over. It was tiny, had no idea where it was

Well, wouldn't you know it,
My wife is on a house cleaning binge! SO, today she "Invaded" My Work room! My old turntable, (Plays Records, Vinyl, you know) was jammed up from the lubicrant drying out in the spindle. Now I was going to get around to fixing it one of these days! Well I pulled out the spindle, cleaned the seat out, and re-lubricated it! Now it works just fine! I think I've had it since 1973. It is an Acoustic Research Turntable of which is not made anymore.

I saved a lot of money yesterday. My A/C broke down during the hottest time of the year. The repairman was too busy to work on it, so after I gave him the symptoms over the phone, he told me it was probably a bad capacitor and told me how to replace it myself. I took the old one out, brought it to his shop and he matched it up with a used one that he had on hand. Charged me $15. I took it home and installed it. The A/C runs like new. Just a service call would've been at least $70 and another $70 for the part. It only took me about two hours of labor but it was worth it.

it's kinda like writing a song, it seems people have an easier time writing sad stuff.

Might be because happy stuff is less believable. When a guy goes to a bar and tells the other guys how much he loves his wife, they dont believe him!

Not much good news in the media today for sure. But I just booked a band gig so that feels pretty good and I recorded a couple of tracks on the song I am working on.

well, being afraid....can be bad news....but the good news is, if you face your fears, they will no longer have any power over you.

The rainfall here in Arizona has been more than EVER in this state. Which is peculiar because it comes in the middle/late summer, which has been known to put up 120 degree temps. We have this phenomenon called The Monsoon I . It brings flash flood rains and these huge-walled dust storms two miles high and 10-20 miles long. On the roads you just simply have to pull over because the visibility is like in inches. When I first moved to this state I walked out of work into the parking lot at night and there were like two or three million grasshoppers covering the pavement and my car as well. It's a weird state and I know it's not funny or upbeat ...just weird...

I had an interview for a food service job in a hospital.
I won't know until next week if I am hired. There are many interviewees.
But I feel a certain pleasure knowing I am in contention and that even if I don't get the job that something will work out.
I'm not used to interviews.
I had a job for 13 years and now everything is done by computer.
I was hired in the past upon showing up and applying.
Never got in to resumes or letterheads.
So I am getting a new education with computers and the job finding process.

A long time bud of mine said to me, "year of the horse, wild ride".......truer words.....truer words. The last few months have been terrible, friends passing, losing my mother.........and much more. BUT...........there is still good news, there are songs lurking in me, that are pushing hard at the seams to burst forth.

Such songs are in you too, hold them back awhile, let them gain strength......like a storm off shore. They very well could be the best you write.....no matter how dark and empty the world may seem, the light finds a way out.......as fugged up as it may seem to me.....I know That all I have to do is wait.......the gates always open at some point.......so let them.

I was just scanning some headlines on the internet and ran across this one: Frozen Halloween Costumes in High Demand.
So the good news is that you can find the best costumes in the freezer section. Hey, just put your child's Halloween costume in the freezer and they will be set.
