Peace of Mind © Annie 1.) I have the devil on my shoulder An angel’s close behind The angel whispers common sense But the devil knows my mind I listen to them argue They bicker all the time The devil gets his way And I have no Peace of Mind.
Chorus Peace of Mind, Peace of Mind How on earth can I find Peace of Mind With the angel always harping to mend my sinful ways and the devil dancing ‘round trying not to be replaced.
2.) Drove all the way to Vegas With gamblin’ on my mind For bright lights and pretty gals I left the angel behind Man! I blew a bundle At the tables and the track Returned with empty pockets Thumbing my way back
Chorus Peace of Mind, Peace of Mind How on earth can I find Peace of Mind With the angel always harping to mend my sinful ways and the devil dancing ‘round trying not to be replaced.
3.) Little angels frown upon women of her kind whispered she’s not right for me I’d have no Peace of Mind I went to her anyway The devil danced with glee But I turned tail and ran when I heard the angel scream.
Chorus Peace of Mind, Peace of Mind How on earth can you find peace of Mind Do you hear an angel harpin About your sinful ways while the devil dancing ‘round Cuz he might be displaced?
Coda I’ve an angel on my shoulder The devil’s ‘way behind Now on earth I can find Peace of Mind While the angel plays her harp Singing songs of Grace I’ve finally learned to recognize The devil’s sinful ways.

This song is great. It sounds very indie-country and I'm already thinking Dixie Chicks/Tori Amos. It really has a folk flavor when I think about it in the back of my mind and the lyrics blending together have that sort of vibe. Not a single idea of how I'd correct it. Amazing!

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
