Hi Tim, I am not a singer but have used a couple that I would highly recommend to anyone. I use Lauryn Snapp when I need something a little edgy. You can listen to her here: https://soundcloud.com/rickib/whats-wrong-with-me-1She also has several youtube videos of cover songs that can be easily found with a search. The other is Monica Ferrell who I use when I want a lighter touch, although she can belt it out and does wonderful harmonies. You can listen to her here: https://soundcloud.com/rickib/on-the-edge-1I usually send them a guitar track or other backing track and then they go to a recording studio that I found in Nashville and he records them and then sends me the vocal. He can also do production if needed. His name is Mark Allen and his website is: http://www.theaudiobooth.com/I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more info. Good luck, Ricki

If you can't find anyone here, this website has vocalists for hire: http://purevocals.org/Session_Singers.html I used them several times, and I was always satisfied. Make sure you understand the terms. Best, John

Tim:
You might consider Heather Cowles. The genre you describe is "right up her alley." She alternates spending time between Nashville and the Caribbean. I believe she is still an active member here but if not, many of our current members have used her demo capabilities. I regret that I've lost her e-mail address when my laptop expired recently.
Best of luck with your project.
Dave

thank you john! checked them out and found someone to do my vocals-any tips or pointers on the conditions? thank you john tim Just this one: "The demo price listed above & a one time additional fee of $650 if the song grosses over $5000. An agreement will be provded and must be signed by both you and the vocalist" If your song generates $5,000, the singer will be entitled to a one time payment of $650. This payment may vary from singer to singer, but the amount will be posted on the singer's Pure Vocal's page. If you're only using this as a demo, you won't have to consider this. Best, John

In the old days, I liked guy singers: Elvis, Beatles, etc. Didn't care much for Connie Francis or Brenda Lee. It turned around in the 70s with ABBA. Now, I prefer the women. They are stronger and more dynamic than the men. I like Shania and Karen Fairchild & Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town. 30 women have recorded my songs going back to 1978. I'm working now with a gal named Annie Bushmeyer. She's the best one yet! Listen to Annie http://www.jimcolyer.com
