Al's production, music, vocal http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=7030667&q=hiON LOAN FROM GOD (verse) It's the marvel of the mountains and the sunset and the rain And the way that out of nothing life began It's the way a heart keeps beating, the way that minds can learn The way that we hold love within our hands. (chorus) It's all on loan from God Don't take anything for granted There's nothing that we own Everything we have is just on loan On loan from God. (verse) It's the giggle of the baby that you're holding in your arms And the first time she says "daddy" or something close It's the smile of a loving wife that makes you ask "why me?" And a kiss that tells you all you need to know. (repeat chorus) (bridge) It's the blessings we've been given And the truths that we have learned From a God who gives so much to us For so little in return. (repeat chorus) Bill Osofsky, BMI, Al Carmichael, ASCAP copyright

Hi Bill:
Al did this one about as well as could be imagined. I liked everything about this one... and to me... those last two lines summed everything up perfectly. You always seem to put things into such perfectly plain terms. Well done.

Hey Bill,
Really nice song. I love the hook. I would think that there's an artist for this. I also think a female singer on this could work if a couple of the line's were altered for gender. I almost think a more acoustic performance with a bit less production could also represent it well. It's a simple concept and I think maybe if the music mirrored that in simplicity, it could be one of those songs that makes the hair stand-up on the back of your neck. Imagine hearing someone like Johnny Cash deliver this on acoustic guitar.
Just some thoughts..if you ever decide to redo it.

Hi Bill, Wow, great message, lyrics, melody and arrangement! The time (about 3.5 minutes) is a good commercial radio length and would fit well on many country stations.
I like the way you hold "own" on the 3rd Chorus line "There's nothing that we OWN" and the way it rhymes with LOAN on the next line.
The Bridge also works well, especially since you only have two verses, so that's a nice change-up to add interest and more "punch" to the overall theme of the song.
In my opinion, all around great song with good commerical potential for the right artist/s that are already performing and recording this genre of music.
