The a capella treatment works for this song, but it might be even cooler with some kind of beat being kept in the background (maybe chopping wood, busting rocks, or digging in a rhythmic pattern). Post the lyrics.

Get It Right ============ [Verse 1] We were somethin', you and me; forever lovers, far as we could see. Thought we had an eternity to get it right ... Oh
[Verse 2] Started livin' in between mornin' kisses and family. Stopped doin' all those little things to get it right ... Oh ... to get it right.
[Chorus] Somehow life got in the way, step by step, and day to day, 'til our love faded into the night, and we forgot how to get it right.
[Verse 3] Now each mornin' seems the same, nighttime follows another day. How I wish I could hear them say, "they got it right ... oh ... they got it right."
[Chorus] Somehow life got in the way, step by step, and day to day, 'til our love faded into the night, and we forgot how to get it right.
[Repeat Verse 1] Yeah, we were somethin', you and me; forever lovers, far as we could see. Thought we had an eternity to get it right ... Oh ... to get it right.
To get it right ... oh ... to get it right. Oh ... to get it right.

Rick,
Nice lyrics and melody. I'd like to hear a lonely picking guitar with this maybe supported with a little background violin or should I say fiddle.
Lot's of potential here and would be interesting hearing this with a music production! You have a little "Randy Travis" vibe with your vocal-nice.
steady-eddie.

Rick, There's raw emotion, sadness and longing in this song and your singing. And it's coming from a truthful place. I enjoyed listening to it.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm not a singer or musician. I'm hoping to find someone who could put this to music for me. I have a guy, Chaz Evans, but I've never used his service before. I wasn't even sure if this song was worth pursuing.

Buy a shaker and tambourine and lay down a beat to help you with these vocal only offerings. You have a fine voice and the song could be a good one. Maybe buy an inexpensive keyboard or a decent guitar and learn how to play. At least enough to put down a few chords here and there. Accompaniment software, like band in a box, might be worthwhile -- but you need to know some chord theory.
It is rarely worth it to use a music service in my opinion.

I'm gonna try to learn guitar. I've found some software that's supposed to screate chords from your voice. I'll try that first. Thanks for the advice.

Rick, LOVE your voice, very nice lyric and melody.
I started here acapella too and this is wonderful, you have a good ear and timing.
Just wonderful!

Rick, I reckon that song has the potential to be right up there with the good ones. A little accompaniment might help but even the a cappella style is nice. And there's nothing wrong with your voice - you sing it just the right timbre to go with the lyrics.
I can just hear Iris Dement singing it in some movie like Songcatcher ...

Everything is there for a hit country song.....except the music. You've got it nice vox, a good write and a well timed/metered song even though it is a cappella.
Now go make it right!!!
Nice job.

Thanks, Nielen and Bluesriff. Very kind words. Very kind, everyone. After some prodding, I'm gonna find someone to put this to music. I'd try it myself, but my hands won't let me. I have peripheral neuropathy in my hands, due to diabetes, so learning to play an instrument is out of the question. Thanks, everyone, for pushing me to do this.

I love your voice, it's very raw and calming. The lyrics are really good too. Nice Job! Can't wait to hear it with music.

Rick,
If the vocal was recorded better(clearer), and maybe one/two harmonies added....you could totally keep this in accapella form and do just fine.

If I could find a benevolent soul with a better voice, it might help too. Just saying. Thank you, though. I'm learning so much here. This place rocks.

I shared this with a friend, Troy McConnell, who has been in the music business for decades. He wanted to put this to music, which is great. I'll share as soon as I get something from him. Might be a little bit, since he has the flu.

Coming back around, after some medical issues and a move. This song now has music. I think it sounds pretty good, but I may be a little biased.
