I do recordings on occasion with off beat rythmns. Native and bass and percussion type recordings that are somewhat like world music. Bu I do not know time signatures at all. I can comprehend a chord scale yet time signatures do not surface. It is a bit like a math form I can not catch on to to where to many it is like counting. Although I know some basic patterns. But with something off beat I do with what is in my head and it does not make sense to listeners. I really feel the groove when I do it, yet music is a language and something that needs to be translated the right way so people understand it other then myself.
Are there any type of off beats that the drummers here find better for the synapses?
I would also like to see if maybe a drummer might give tips to make modifications to better mine.

Humm, You may have the cart before the horse. When Sheet music is written time signatures will be on the sheet. I assume it is taught in a music class or classes.

I was thinking more of something beyond a 4/4 rythmn . In prog music there is all kinds of odd beats and intervals.
I remember both you Ray Strode and pop todd from whaen I was on here in the mid to late 2000's. when I was last on here the most. Glad to see you.
