Well I woke up to hear that "Phil" got fired (indefinitely suspended) from "Duck Dynasty". He voiced his religious views and used his free speech, and it wasn't done on the set.

He voiced that he didn't go for beastiality and went on to say he didn't believe in BOTH women having sex with multiple partners, OR men with men. He's been pegged a gay basher!
So why not a whore basher too??

Our fine government is in the business of trying to reprogram our thinking in my opinion, with what is "politically correct". So I think they fired him cause their scared of the controversy, can't loose rating, heaven forbid.

I think Politically Correctiveness has another dirty little motive, Top secret, like everything else they do!

They Stick It To America

(c) 2013 Geneva Griffin

Verse 1
We've been infiltrated, in the worse way,
Citizens afraid, don't talk 'bout shameful things,
So it goes on and on, secrets kept in high places,
.. They stick it to America....

Verse 2
Economic rape, is for the publics own good,
Gratification goes, to their own special interest groups,
They don't care about folks, it's power and control,
.. They stick it to America....

Chorus
Nasty gritty details,
Are never talked about..
Nasty gritty details,
Are deliberately left out..
Freedom being curtailed,
By those that know how....
To stick it to America..

Bridge
They say.. go on,
Get used to it,
Don't you fight it,
I don't play by the rules..
Go on,
You'll get over it,
Learn to like it,
Don't know you're damaged goods..

Chorus
Nasty gritty details,
Are never talked about..
Nasty gritty details,
Are deliberately left out..
Freedom being curtailed,
By those that know how....
To stick it to America..

Tag
Go on,
Bend over,
Don't you fight it,
You're just dirty damaged goods..
They make us dirty damaged goods........

Hi Gen,

Very good!
The "enemy within" indeed!

How about:

THEY'RE STICKIN' IT TO AMERICA

People don't think Dylan is still writing protest songs.
Here's a couplet from album TEMPEST

in the name of "america"
speaking of the masters of war International bankers who control it all:

"WE LOOTED AND WE PLUNDERED
ON DISTANT SHORES
WHY IS MY SHARE
NOT EQUAL TO YOURS?"

The last song of yours I reviewed and edited, you never commented on so I'm being sparing of advice in the name of editing. smile
there it languishes on Page 2 now . . . Bandage on This Ole battered Heart

Thank You Terry!

Ya they are stickin' it to American in so many ways we'll never know 'em all. That's a great line.

I'm sorry I haven't returned the comment, you're always such a great help to me!
I couldn't help but write this one after what all's going on, but should've kept up with my comments and edits first.

Some of us on here tend to write something everyday and I feel like I can't bump to many at a time or I bump someone deserving off the front page.

I'll bring that up next, as soon as a couple of these fall off!

You're not afraid to speak out, Gen, and I appreciate that. I don't watch TV and didn't know who Phil Robertson was until this. Now I support him!

Food for thought. I do not watch tv, but I do know that any employer has the right to fire someone if the employee speaks out in such a way. It was crude in the very least.
Since I had a gay brother (born that way), I support those kinds of issues.

Hi Jim,

I don't watch much TV either.

I really get into Duck Dynasy though cause they're so down to earth, good old boys with great values.

Phil didn't bash anyone. He interpreted Corinthians I and told his personal belief to a reporter. This is all about freedom of religion, and he's being persecuted for it!

Hi Cindy,

Phil, when he brought up bible scripture and told that reporter his beliefs, he also said "to each his own". He doesn't judge others for what thay do, it's not his place!

GLAD however, put pressure on A&E cause if it's not their way, you're a bigot! Never mind his constitutional freedom of religion.

To me it's like if we don't agree with the way the president is running this country, yet never knows what's going on when it comes to Bengazi, spying on us, pushing unaffordable healthcare down our throats, changing laws without going thru congress, it's not because of poor performance and lack of integrity, instead we must be racist!

Yep Mike,

I get really frustrated that they're out of control, and runnin' in high gear!

The constitution was to protect the rights we are loosing, more to this administration than any other.

We have to be afraid of what comes out of our mouths cause someone's gonna interpret it wrongand cause a stink and call us names.

Then there's all the scare tactics. Far as I'm concerned, the biggest act of terrorism is treason from within, and right under our noses!

Geneva,
His employer had every right to put his show on hiatus. Any employer has that right. This isn't about his free speech (he can say whatever he likes). It is about him offending his employer (and folks like me). His comments on blacks in the south wasn't accurate as well.
The whole thing is probably just made up to get more folks to buy stuff. See the link on the "real" Duck Dynasty.

http://likes.com/media/why-duck-dynasty-is-a-fraud
They were clean shaven and wore polo shirts. Very preppy.

Our government is indeed a mess. Corporations run it and whoever is in the office really has no power. Congress is a bad joke-they do nothing.

What we need is more compassion and empathy for all the different people out there. That is what Jesus did.

Cindy

Hi Cindy,

Phil Robertson has a past like everybody else. He's not proud of it and has never tried to hide it.

It's all there in his autobiography, his life and family before the got rich making duck calls, including all the family photos.

He's found compassion and empathy thru Jesus,, and was forgiven.

Here's an exert from his book called "Living The Dream"

Duck calls—though the source of his livelihood—are not what makes Phil Robertson the man he is today. When asked what matters in his life, he’s quick to say, “Faith, family, ducks—in that order.”

It isn’t often that a person can live a dream, but Phil Robertson, aka The Duck Commander, has proven that it is possible with vision, hard work, helping hands, and an unshakable faith in the Almighty. Phil’s is the remarkable story of one man who followed the call he received from God and soon after invented a duck call that would begin an incredible journey to the life he had always dreamed of for himself and his family. In the love of his country, his family, and his maker, Phil has finally found the ingredients to the “good life” he always wanted.

If you ever wind up sitting face-to-face with Phil, you’ll see that his enthusiasm and passion for duck hunting and the Lord is no act—it is truly who he is.

If you’ve watched the exceedingly popular A&E® program Duck Dynasty®, you already know the famed Phil Robertson. As patriarch of the Robertson clan and creator of Duck Commander duck calls, he fearlessly leads his family in a responsible work ethic and an active faith.

But what you don’t know is his life before the show. In the pages of this book, you’ll learn of Phil’s colorful past and his wild road to the “happy, happy, happy” life he leads today. Before the “happy,” Phil’s passion for the outdoors and wild living led him down some shady paths. As a young husband and father, he became the proprietor of a rough bar and lived a life, as he says, of “romping, stomping, and ripping” for a number of years. He even left his wife and young boys for a short period of time.

Through it all, Phil Robertson has lived his life as a “called” man. Called to live off the land, called to leave a starring role in Louisiana Tech football (playing ahead of Terry Bradshaw) for duck hunting, called to wild living, called to create a new kind of duck call—and finally, called to follow God and lead a life of faith.

Geneva,
He is just a man that is playing a roll-just part of who he is. I just watched a video of him preaching where he basically said gay people are murderers and that is just wrong.
We are all "called" to make this life a better one than how we found it and bashing gay people is not doing this. How would you feel if you were gay, or a loved one was? I grew up with 3 brothers. Two of them are straight, and one gay. He was born that way and you know what? If it was "a sin" then why did God make him that way? God loved my brother just as much as he loves you or me. After my brother died he sent me dreams about Heaven and told me it is so wonderful. No one will tell me that my brother went to hell or that he was a bad person. I won't buy it. I won't because I know what love is, and what grace is and I am thankful I do.

Hi Cindy,

I feel for what you're saying. I too have a gay relative, also gay friends and aquainances. I don't judge anyone, it's not my place! My cousin and I grew up as best friends, very close, he doen't hold what Phil said against him. Probably because we were taught that sticks and stones may break our bones but words can't hurt us. He plans to still watch the show and takes no offence.

I went on the internet today to try and find that video. I found a sermon at a baptist church in 2010 where Phil was preaching a sermon from behind the pulpit. He not only said that about gay, it was also about women who sleep around, and a number of other things that lead to the down fall of society.
He has a very crude and outspoken way of saying what he does, but it's his interpretation of the bible and his right to say what he believes is true.

It would help if those that posted the video's, would post the entire video, rather than take only this part of the sermon to try and get people riled up. We don't have the whole picture, we only have what they want us to see!

If he said anything wrong, that is between him and God. those from behind the pulpit will be judged pretty harsh, as to leading folks astray.

That brings another point. Many preachers today don't preach the word of God, they preach a "feel good" sermon and completely stay away from many book of the bible that would offend people, and also avoid questions when they are interviewed.

We've removed books off library shelves because groups are offended. We've removed history books from our schools and replaced them with "changed history".

In my opinion, if preachers started preaching like they used to, interest groups would raise a big stink over the word of God and would eventually have the bible removed from society so no one gets their feelings hurt.

There's a much bigger picture here. So how far are we going to go?

Geneva,
That is your opinion and you have a right to it. We all do. What the "old time religion" too often did, is preach in a judgmental way and tell folks they were going to hell. Religion, if it is to survive, must evolve and stop with all the hell-fire that is not the way Jesus did things. He was not judgmental in any way and preached to prostitutes, lepers, and all kinds of "sinners".
Religion should bring us together, but too often it does just the opposite. Folks get self-rightous and think they are the most Godly, when the log "is in their eye". God is all about love and when he becomes an angry God, as some folks make him, his spirit cannot get through as it should.

Hi Cindy,

You're totally right that God is love! The bible says he loves us like a father and who a father loves he diciplines.
He also got angry and showed his wrath, destroyed entire cities like Sodom and Ghemorrah.

He loves as all so much he dwelled among us as God the son to show us the compassion he has for all the of us. He said "your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more".

(And no, we don't have the right to be
self-righteous, Jesus taught humility.)

But what do we do then? Rewrite the bible so it's to everyone's liking, make it politically correct so it's socially acceptable?

To label anyone who finds the gay lifestyle unacceptable for themselves and their children, as "judgmental" is a free-speech-denying judgmental indictment in itself.

we all have to make judgements for ourselves and children every step of our lives, but the judgement now allowed us is the kind of judgment that "punishes". an example would be to direct anything disdainful or hateful in word or deed to a gay person or persons.

The judgement of which jesus said, "Judgment is mine" . . . is the retributive justice or punishing type of judgement, reserved for God alone.

But the lobby seeks to itself punish any voice, including the Bible, that dares to suggest that nobody has the right to conclude for themselves and family that the gay lifestyle is spiritually unhealthy. That is a free choice/speech judgment we have every right to make and on paper at least we are supposed to have freedom of religious worship and adherence to the texts inherent to that religious worship.

The first Canadian woman jockey to ever be able to enter and then to win a Kentucky Derby level horse race, Joan Phipps is a dear friend of mine. I always knew she was a lesbian and one day she, out of the blue, told me that she had tried several times to leave that lifestyle. She had been gay all her life.
All I could think of to suggest was to direct her to PFOX (Parents and Friends of EX-Gays and Gays,) and to click on OUR STORIES -- auto biographies written by Ex gay folks. I asked her later if I had been of any help and she said adamently, "Yes. because you were kind and gentle and non-judgmental."

I laughed and said, "Joan, I need you around the next time someone calls me "homophobic". She laughed and said, "I'll be right there!"

Good on you Geneva,
Terry

P.S.
Joan has been straight now for 3 years and she openly praises Jesus for giving her the Wisdom and subsequently the strength to enable the transition.

Terry,
While I am happy that you can believe what you do-I want this freedom as well, I do not believe that people who are truly born gay (as my brother was), should turn away from feeling sinful or wrong in how they are wired. My brother tried to date women and he said once to me, "I thought Marilyn Monroe was the prettiest woman, but at night I dreamed of Dr. Killdare." He was different from my 2 other brothers in so many ways, and was one of the best people I have ever known.
When you deny who you really are, it may be the worst "sin". You do not just chose to be gay, no more than you chose to be heterosexual.
Perhaps we have come to this time on the earth where all peoples are loved and accepted. I have no doubt whatsoever that we are in a period in time where only love matters and this includes gays and lesbians.
My brother was with his partner for 25 years and they loved one another so much. Love is all the matters.

There is not a shred of evidence which suggests that people are born gay. No hormone, gene, cell...nothing has been found to prove or disprove that someone is or is not born gay. If we're just playing guessing games, then it's more logical, for the furtherance of the human race, to theorize that people are born straight.

No credible organization in the world, including the American Psychological Association, has made the assertion that being gay is "innate." They all conclude that, as far as we know, there are a number of factors which can contribute to sexual orientation. The "born that way" theory is simply that -- a theory.

For several years, I've worked with the ex-gay group, PFOX, that Terry mentioned. The ex-gay community is very concerned about the "born that way" theory being pushed as fact, because it flies in the face of what they know to be true -- they were not born that way. The gay activist community absolutely excoriates the ex-gays. Why? Because if one ex-gay exists, then this blows up the whole "born that way" theory. The ex-gays are literally bullied and threatened into submission by the gay activist community on a daily basis. Any discrimination they faced as gays pales in comparison to the discrimination they face as ex-gays.

Lisa,
There is a lot of evidence that people can be born gay. Not sure where you've been getting your information, but it makes no sense whatsoever that being gay is all choice. Here is one study of many:
http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2012-12/being-born-gay-isnt-your-genes-its-them
There are many studies still being done.

Why would anyone chose that lifestyle with all the condemnation they experience? I could not be a lesbian, not because I choose not to be one, but it isn't in my makeup. I am not interested in women. There are kids out there that know they feel different than other kids and do not know what to do about it-many of killed themselves. Why would they do this, if inside they knew that is how they were born? I have known kids (like 7-year-olds) that I could tell they were gay then. And later, they indeed proved to be gay.
I know that my brother was wired different and you or anyone else cannot tell me otherwise.
This condemnation and denial of gay people needs to stop happening. No one just says one day, "I think I'll be gay." Sure, a few may do it for attention, but overall they are just different.
Cindy

Cindy -- Theories and studies, on both sides of the issue, abound. None have been able to prove or disprove why people are gay or straight. Even the article you linked to...the researcher clearly states that the theory is NOT proven.

I don't know the answer any more than you do. I do know that there are people who were gay and believed they were born that way, but then they dug deep and figured out that they weren't born that way. Here's a link to one of my favorite songs, about an ex-gay man's journey (below).

Also, I don't believe in engaging in a guessing game about a young child's homosexual orientation.

P.S. I've taken this link down because it doesn't have the English subtitles. I like the live version of him singing it in Italian with English subtitles, but I can't locate it yet...

There is no proof as yet, but I have seen many studies (other than the one I shared)that are still connecting the dots. There may be a few that have becoming ex-gay but by and large, this isn't the case. Many people have hidden their sexuality through the ages as well.
I don't play guessing games about children, but I have noticed several that just act like the opposite sex.
Anyway, it is not our job to judge anyone or make them change what we don't like.
I think we should be like so many Native Americans-who celebrated homosexuals-and called them "two-souls".
I do not know any ex-gays, but cannot help but wonder if inside they still are and they just don't show it.
I don't see a link?

Cindy -- If you are going to speculate that ex-gays are still gay inside, then is it JUST as okay to speculate that gays are truly straight inside? I still can't find the subtitled video link of the live version I like. -- Lisa

It isn't just speculation. I supposed it is possible, but from my experiences with family, friends, co-workers-and all the things I have read, I would say that it doesn't happen very often.
Of course I do not understand about every example, but no one in their right mind would choose to be gay. That is what it comes down to for me. That, and knowing my brother that was gay didn't act at all like my brothers that were straight. How do you explain that?

Cindy,

I can't tell you I know why your brother was gay. Perhaps we'll find it is genetic. Or maybe it's social or psychological or intellectual. Perhaps it's part genetic and something else. Perhaps it's all related to something happening to you when you're a child. Or maybe not. I know a woman whose husband molested their six-month-old boy. How does that affect him in the future? I don't know. Maybe it has a huge impact -- or maybe it has no effect.

But even if we find it is genetic...it also has a behavioral component too, so that needs to be factored in. Even if we find there is a "gay gene" you might still have a lot of people having sex with same-sex partners. How would that be explained?

Regarding behavior people choose to engage in...people do all sorts of things, and engage in all sorts of behavior that are good for them -- and bad for them. How can any of that be explained? Each person's circumstance is so different. To us, a drug user might look like he's being self-destructive, but maybe there's something else going on within him that we're not seeing or understanding -- a need that's being met, other than the drug craving. Who knows.

My focus is on the ex-gay community and to espouse the "born that way" theory, as if it's a proven fact, is very damaging to them, on a number of levels.

Lisa

"When evil is branded it thinks of weapons." the I Ching
In this case the weapon is, after typically obvious rejection of all real evidence like "Our Stories" on PFOX, a twisting or blurring of logic is all that's left.

This last recourse weapon to facilitate skirting the truth, is the cleverness of evil that seeks to have everything established as inconclusive or up for conjecture; and as such, the grand agenda of killing free speech can still proceed unimpeded because nothing limiting to the gay agenda can then be uttered after it has been craftily established that nothing is conclusive as yet. But it is only the thought unfavorable to the agenda that will qualify as "hate speech' and as such be curtailed.

This establishing of grey areas to facilitate gagging everyone is akin to the "pre crime" arrest legislation Obama signed into law, where like Rahm Emmanuel said when asked what would it would take get someone put on his "no fly/no buy" list,
"Well that person MIGHT, POSSIBLY, MAYBE be someone who could commit a "terrorist" act." (paraphrased, but the Possibly/ Maybe part is there) and the video can still be watched.

Great analysis, Terry! And I love that quote from the I Ching!

By the way....thought you might be interested to know, if you hadn't heard, that incoming New York mayor Bill de Blasio's wife is an ex-gay. In 1979, she wrote an essay in Essence magazine entitled, "I Am A Lesbian." She married De Blasio in the 1990s.

Yes, very Interesting about the new mayor!
I hope he's not the NWO sellout Bloomberg is but naive optimism is my strong suit.

You show true compassion when you worry that the "born that way" postulation is extremely detrimental to those trying to get straight. I was helping amphetamine addicts for a few years and an equally damaging myth, was that their addiction was a disease and genetic, with the "once an addict always an addict: thrown in for bad measure. A nurse used to come in to the forum all-knowing and take away the last little bit of strength the poor addict had managed to summon up. She'd get furious with me and try to pull her nurses rank, but the addicts thanked me because in their heart of hearts they knew they could quit.

Joan told me last year that our local Pride parade spectacle is a great embarrassment to her now.

Here's a little blurb about her:

http://www.nzthoroughbred.co.nz/Archive/kids-project-04.aspx

Canadian jockey Joan Phipps, invited to New Zealand for the 1976 Qantas Lady Riders Series, was refused permission to ride in tote races here.

Supported by the Rotorua, Waikato and Stratford Racing Clubs, the Series grew to four races in 1977. These three clubs, senior racing journalist John Costello and a determined group of women riders around New Zealand proved to be strong, and ultimately successful, advocates for female jockeys.

Finally, in July 1977, the New Zealand Racing Conference approved the licensing of women as jockeys.

The first woman to ride against male jockeys in a New Zealand betting race was Joan Phipps and she made the most of a memorable occasion by riding Daphalee (a mare, of course!) to victory in the Te Hinemoa Handicap at Te Awamutu on 1 November 1977.

Interesting story about Joan! And that's very kind of you to give those addicts hope by dispelling the "born that way" myth. It's hard to imagine why people wish to demoralize other people by making them believe they can't change.

Fine lyric and heads up Geneva.

Another example of how dysfunctional the US has become. It seems there is no room for compromise anymore because no one can get past their intense dislike\hatred for those whose opinions and beliefs and lifestyles are not acceptable to them.

Can you imagine the difference if everyone actually lived according to the most universal and basic rule of all, "to love the other as you would love yourself", instead of turning their differences into impassable rifts or convenient excuses to economically or otherwise marginalize them?

This Golden Rule is part of every faith in very similar wording.

Instead we say "you do not worship the same as I, or you do not share my beliefs, or your lifestyle is unacceptable to me, and mine is the right way, the only way, and because you are not like me, it's OK for me to hate you"...maybe not in those words, but certainly in deeds.

There is a wonderful opportunity in World Interfaith Harmony Week to reach out to others. It is a week, the first week of February every year, that was proclaimed by the United Nations (October 2010) and that calls for all people of good will to reach out to one another, to learn about one another, to try and understand one another.

Become a leader and bring it to your church and your community.

Stop building rifts and walls, and begin building bridges.

If you are interested in beginning this in your area, I can help

This is what we are doing in Toronto.

Thank you John for your post. I love things that bring us together, and this is a wonderful idea. I have a coexist bumper on my car and that is how I so want it to be.
