Thanks Calvin. Sometimes its a struggle on how to end a song and sum it up with that last chorus or tag.

Hi Justin,
Good to "meet" you! I've been here at JPF about 12 years but been away the better part of the past two years. But I'm back on a regular basis now.
Thnis is a real nice song! I'm generally not real infatuated with duets. But this one is an exception...I really like it!
I love the arrangement and the production is sweet! Great job by both singers...you on the male lead? And who's the young lady? nice harmony! Very nice, indeed! Best of luck with it!
Al

Al, thanks for the kind words on this tune!! Its nice to meet you as well. I had never written a duet, so I had to challenge myself to do so. Now I can check that box.. It's not me on the vocal. Its Donny Anderson and Dixie Trahan. Dixie was always my first choice for this one. I've always loved her voice. I had used a different male voice at first and it didn't work out. Luckily Donny was available when I needed something different. I think their voices mix nicely here.

Hey Justin,
Great music here! Loving that half-step jump in melody with the chorus! I think you have yourself a wonderful song--not sure where you are in production, but I have a couple small sugs for polishing tweaks for you to "use or lose."
I really like both your voices on these vocals--being that "tone-wise," you both actually have a similar tonal coloration to your voices, I'd eq yours a little more bass and hers slightly more stronger mid--just to better distinguish and affirm that it is a duet. (Don't get me wrong, you sound like a guy and she a girl--just when she first takes off I still thought it was you for an instant). IMO, a little tweak with the eq would strengthen and separate the male and female dialog.
My only other sug is, "bring up the volume slightly with the electric lead guitar when he's playing those riffs--adds drive to the song without competing with the vocals.
I absolutely "loved" this song from melody/lyrics/performance--great job and super write!
steady-eddie.

I see what you mean about the eq settings. Also, I actually had that lead guitar turned down a little.. maybe it was turned down too much because at first it was way too overpowering. I always appreciate your detailed critiques Eddie. I'm glad you loved this tune! Like I said in an earlier post... I can check that duet box now.

Listened to this the other day and made a note to post a comment. Better late than never....
Works for me in all aspects - production, mixing, lyrics, melody and vocals. Duets add a lot more variables than is often realized. Sometimes the vocals are perfect but they just don't seem to mesh. This works well, very well.
We really enjoyed it!

Janice & Bud.. Appreciate the listen and kind words, thank you! You are so right about the variables with duets. Might be a while before I tackle another one.
On another note.. we're already reworking this song with a slightly different melody.

Justin,
An enjoyable listen. Duets are not the easiest thing to write. Nicely in the pocket... you got the perfect pair of voices to pull it off...

Justin,
I think this clicks on all levels, musically, lyrically and performance. I thought reduction wise, the female vocal overpowered the male vocal at arts. I also think the lead guitar could be brought up a notch. Love everything ese about it. Very impressive write.

Wow guys.. I must say, I didn't expect to have such kudos on this one. I only wrote it just to say I wrote a duet. THANK YOU for checking it out. Its nice when the elements come together and work well.
