this song should be played loud....

I’m Too Old for This Crap © 2013 Cameron Earnshaw SESAC /Robert George BMI
What the hell, barkeep Useta be I’d come in here After work to have some fun Shoot some pool, play it cool then grab a stool And then git a little drankin’ done
Drop some quarters in the jukebox ‘neath the old beer light Let some soulful voices sing me Off into the night
Now that jukebox is loaded up With bubblegum and rap Now you got some punk-ass DJ With earrings and a cap please…no more plastic music Or I’m-a-gonna snap I ain’t stuck in a rut, But this stuff’s got no guts And I’m too old for this crap
Tell me straight, barkeep Where’s that rowdy country band That played here on Saturdays They drew crowds, they played loud and then rocked out Until ev’ry whiskey glass was raised
I ain’t seen that band in two months I sure hope they’re comin’ back Cos their gritty southern music Went good with a shot of Jack
Now that jukebox is loaded up With bubblegum and rap And you got some punk-ass DJ With earrings and a cap please…no more plastic music Or I’m-a-gonna snap I ain’t stuck in the past, But that stuff’s candy-ass And I’m too old for this crap
[i]Hell, it ain’t gotta be all country Play some Guns n Roses or Nirvana I like southern rock the best, But five beers n I’ll confess That I kinda like Madonna Now that jukebox is loaded up With bubblegum and rap Now you got some punk-ass DJ With earrings and a cap please…no more plastic music Or I’m-a-gonna snap And those stupid songs he spins, Are just ripped-off Prince And I’m too old for this crap I don’t care if it’s recent Just play somethin’ decent…

RG, Glad to hear what you're up to, Cameron's a good one to work with. Five beers and I'll confess I like Madonna...ha. Some things never change, it's like a soap opera, you can miss a couple years tune back in , and feel like yeah I've seen that show, (Like Crocodile Dundee with the TV in New York City!)Good luck with it, be well.

ROBERT--
Like MAGIC you're back with my kinda SONG--
YEAH, Music and Audience have changed--Just turned over the age-ometer to 75!
Well I know that I can't go back, so I re-live the good and bad times in my songs.
I even tried a RAP song!!!! "IN THE HOOD THINGS 'R GOOD"
When I was a YOUNG CAT in the 50's, we got 6 plays for a quarter, now it's 3 or 4 for a dollar in a JUKEBOX that I can't operate!
Thanks for posting another KILLER SONG!
WRITE ON--
Mackie

Hi---I always enjoyed your writing..and this is no exception...I hear Travis Tritt or Toby Keith singing this one
I can not add anything to change, not that you would be changing anything on a full on demo
Good luck with your song
KIM

Hey Robert
Anthem type song....Will get all the Guys & Gals wearing their musical colors...
Always stellar work from you Bro.
I like that he admits to liking MADONNA, cause that helps the PRINCE lines believability...

thanks to everyone who commented. it's become a favorite of mine. I was also pleased that within 24 hours of being posted on ReverbNation it was played on an internet radio station along with Steely Dan and Tears For Fears. It's not The Beatles at The Beeb but it was pretty cool for this poor fool. http://soundcloud.com/bittersweet-records-radio/bittersweet-records-radio-11it's announced about 31 minutes in.

So how do you really feel about it? Yeah man, I'm with you all the way. Made me think of "Murder on Music Row" cause it used to be you could turn to country to get away from the crap - no more. Enjoyed it and thanks for posting.

Hi Rob,
This is really LOTS of fun and I enjoyed the listen!
One thing that struck me is that I really wanted to have "I'm Too Old for this Crap" to be ringing in my ears after I listened to this. It's a really fun line, after all, and when I read the lyric, I expected that the line would be with me all day after listening. However, I forgot it too quickly, and when I did remember, I couldn't remember the right inflection. I think it would be cool if it were repeated more in the song, because it's an easy, perfect line for the listener to get stuck on!

I stuck my head in for a moment and got the news. I can't believe that's the last Tampa Stan comment I'm ever gonna receive.
what a shame.
adios, Stan...say hello to Dawg and Graham for me. I'll be ready to argue with you when I get there.
