oooooooooh, Such a sweet man he was... I've missed his presence here...
He sent me a lyric once and asked for music.... my home demos were never very crisp...but our song turned out better than most
The song is still up on my soundclick page (but I can't seem to get the cut and paste to work... (Test Drive (take two)

Oh, what sad, sad news. He was quite a character, and certainly had wonderful powers of observation, and a way with words. He was in full swing during the FAWM and 50/90 challenges as well.
His wife Joyce must be devastated. They seem to have had a very, very special kind of relationship.

Yeah, he was a NY Cabbie and an interesting character for sure. I am not sure why he stopped coming here as he insisted to me that nothing was wrong except a particular worry that I couldn't do anything to relieve.
Sorry to lose another long time poster here. Graham, Richard, Corky and many others who weren't as active but who have passed. But we have over 10K of his posts to live on here.
Brian
PS: Do you guys think I should adjust the names on the Top Poster list to indicate those who have passed? I often get PM's asking where different people are who have passed. Thought perhaps adding a (D) or something to recognize those who have passed?

That is a nice song Joice -- and yours too, Calvin.
I never had any interaction with Richard here at JPF (or much contact with Rittmo at songramp). He was a prolific dude and was definitely a "beat" poet. RIP.

Thanks Kevin & Dan -- we actually did a higher production version with Greg Taylor and Mike Caro of the song.
Prolific is Right !

Sad to hear this news. RIP, Richard....
Brian, how about an "In Memoriam" listing? You could limit the Top Poster list to make room so as to not have too far to scroll.
Just a thought.
Peace,
Dave

Sad is right.
To his wife Joyce, my condolences, to Ritt, thank you for some great lyrics, and a wonderful children's book.
And Brian, my vote is to leave all as is...

I am just so sad to hear of Ritt's passing....what a great loss. That's a beautiful song you posted, Joice. I co-wrote a song several years ago with Ritt, and he got Alex Stangl to do the music. Here's the link to that song. It's called "She's Ambiguous." http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1298947&songID=12254087Farewell, Ritt. You will be missed very much. Lisa

In 2005, Ritt wrote a children's book called, "Bronky-Saw-Dust, that was illustrated by Susan Hanlon. I ordered two copies for my grandsons and asked Ritt if he would sign the books for me. He was so sweet and wrote a note to each of my grandsons from, "Bronky" and signed each one. I kept the books here so we would have special readings during grandson visits.
They outgrew the books, but I never did!
RIP Ritt

Rittman ? Ah heck, what a unique talent, a prolific writer, and on the occasions we crossed paths, a bit of a joker too.
My sincere condolances to his family and friends. RIP
regards, Geoff

Thanks for posting Joice Marie. Sorry to hear about Richard/Ritmo (somehow I missed this when it was first posted), clearly he was a major contributor to the board. PS: Do you guys think I should adjust the names on the Top Poster list to indicate those who have passed? I often get PM's asking where different people are who have passed. Thought perhaps adding a (D) or something to recognize those who have passed? Hi Brian – I think this is a good idea.

Can I get some help from old timers here who can fill me in on everyone who has passed that you know about? Obviously we have Richard, Corkey and Graham. I know there are others and would appreciate help in making sure I don't miss folks.
Thanks,
Brian

Thanks John...
I've lost 6 good friends in 6 months in the past year and we lost folks here who I didn't know personally, but knew online here on the boards as well. It's been a rotten past year. Ready for it to be over and for a bit of happiness to come around.

Oh no!!!!! I loved IdaMarie!!!! I hadn't heard.. we hung out each time I'd come through town and I was wondering why I hadn't heard from her in a while... that really makes me sad. Thank you for letting me know Emily. She was one of our original 60 JPF members and one of only a handful who I still heard from all these years later! Brian PS: Here is Ida Marie's Obituary. Sadly her longtime husband had passed away just 2 months earlier. Such a sweet lady and so saddened that she suffered through the loss of her husband at the end of her own life. http://chronicle.northcoastnow.com/2013/03/26/ida-marie-naelitz/

If I remember correctly, her brother came with her to Pineyfest 2005, I believe. He died shortly after that.

I was really extra saddened to learn that he husband of roughly 60 years died 2 months earlier. I don't know the causes in either case, but it is just so unfair she had to bear that burden so shortly before her own death.
I am very concerned about some other older long time posters and how they are doing. Can anyone update me on Bobbie Gallup and Bob Young, who last I heard had gone blind.

So sad to hear about Ida Marie, she was a lovely lady and a true one-off. I was lucky enough to meet her a couple of times once at Pineyfest and once at the 'Hall of Fame' thingy in Nashville 2002. It was always a hoot when she did open mic slot, the organisers were never quite sure what to make of her keyboard arrangements Rest in peace Ida, I hope you are still having a good sing-a-long Love Nige

Oh wow, I haven't been here at Just Plain Folks in such a long time, and when I finally decide to post a new lyric and check out some of the forums, I read this sad news.
I had the pleasure of co-writing a few songs with Ida Marie, but lost touch with her the last few years. I always thought she had a good sense of melody, at least on the songs we did. I'm so sorry to hear this news.
I remember Richard, too, although we never had much interaction with each other. Sorry to hear of his passing also.
