I do expand my horizons and want to write some things in my normal tone of voice ala Cheryl Crow, Alanis.. etc. Alas, I am country guitar chord challenged. I could try to put a melody to this in my head.. but I doubt I could find the chords that match. Here's what I have so far: (yeah it's deep.. sue me!) LOL PIECE OF TRUTH Shall I tell you all the things that make you real? would you believe me in my desperate attempt to feel. All things being equal you define in my mind CHORUS: Love, oh my god it does exist what am I gonna do with this piece of truth? In my memory I can still recall fragil memories of my past and when I built this wall all things being equal you define in my mind CHORUS (it's just a start... and I know what I'm saying.. but does anyone else??) thanks guys!

Hi Red,
Love this title! Understand, I write only Country, so it's hard to offer advice in another genre. Also, I'm not one to look for some hidden meaning. You have to "spell it out" for me!
That said, what I get from this is the singer didn't believe love existed until it presented itself, that being "the piece of truth." So now, what to do? Accept or reject?
From there, I assume you'll go on to tell what made her so cynical. Also, what it is that makes this person so special.
Hope this helps!

So now you're doing rock! I should have expected that since I live close to "red rock" country and knew it had to mean something more than the color of the rocks...
I do understand rock lyrics and I like yours. Actually, I'm a carryover from the pop 70's, just putting twang in the music as needed to fit in the "new" country category.

Hi Redwriter
Sounds good, I only have one nit and it's probably from you also writing country...
Your first line starts off "country flavored" to me ie: "Shall I tell you all"
What about "I could tell you"? Just a thought; otherwise I really like it.

Well you guys certainly know your stuff. And yup... the lyric is actually about someone who was cynical... but now realizes that true love does exists and it's scaring them to death!!!!

Hi,
it is clearly a rock song. I like it so far. I can feel the groove of it already. Only one minor change "I" would make is, changing the "you" to "us" in the second line 1st V. Because you say "all" in the first line.
I definitely like this one.
Good luck.

Shall I tell you "all the things". it's not literally "you all" (smile)

Red: Yes I hear Allanis singing this. Its refreshing to take a vacation from country for a while. I love the structure of country but there are times where I do not think it stimulates new music.
I hijacked your lyrics to give you some suggestions. As with all comments, they are yours for the using or the throwing away. PIECE OF TRUTH
Shall I tell you all Uncover each detail would you understand How you make me feel
All things being equal I can't define this difference in my mind
CHORUS: My god its Love! it does exist What do I do, how do I move Here between you and THis piece of truth?
In my memory I still recall fragil memories of losing all the exact moment I built my wall
all things being equal you define something different in my mind
CHORUS
Just for starters, I don't hold to dreams Life's just as hard with as without It seems its getting harder to dream in face of fate Harder to dream when there's so much forced on my plate
Hope it helps.....Paul
