Ok, first off I'd like to thank Travis for working with me, and being soooo patient. I had a song with no lyrics, he had lyrics with no song, and we brought them together and WAHLA! We have a full blown song! This is just guitar vox and drum loop, but I think it turned out pretty well. I will add a bass line later if I can figure one out! I may redo the vox as well as they are a little pitchy in places and I was fighting a chest cold when I recorded it. the song starts about 8 seconds inand I appologize for that. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12324819This is a brand new vocal sung clean. Please let me know which one you like better. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12335389I'm lookin at me 2013(C) Words Travis David Music Todd G Strachan I passed by a schoolyard today Kids shouting and laughin as they played One stood quietly I thought I'm lookin at me Chorus I'm lookin at me It seems loneliness always needed my company I hope someday someone special sets me free After searching everywhere at each po-so-billity She'll find me and say I was lookin at me Christmastime I might head for the hills Far away from all those festive thrills Mr Bluemoon will really be looking like me Bridge Its a long lonely highway to travel A bumpy road full of ditches and stones I spent a long time searchin for a diamond amongst the gravel Who'll take my hand and say darlin lets go home So until then content I'll be wishing and hopin that she finds me and she'll gaze into my eyes and say She loves lookin at me Chorus I'm lookin at me It seems loneliness always needed my company I hope someday someone special sets me free After searching everywhere at each po-so-billity She'll find me and say I was lookin at me She'll find me and say I was lookin at me She'll find me and say she loves lookin at me

This really a memorable and singable tune, Todd and Travis. Reminds me of an odd cross between The Lovin' Spoonful, Crash Test Dummys meant to be sung in the next Muppet movie by Kermit the Frog. It's a feel good song of the first order. It immediately suggested a bouncy, melodic bass line upon listening so I'm sure you'll come up with something, Todd. First rate stuff. Maybe a growling sax solo where you were do-do-doing it.

Travis and Todd, This is a smooth fusion of lyric and music. There's an old-timey feel to the music. Real fine melody. The lyrics glide along with the tune. This is a real good collaboration. I like it.

HiDee Bros!!!
This is a Fine Co- here, Gents...very "Comfy" Tune & Vocs, with a Fun, Nostalgic Touch. (& can I use the word "Sweet" to describe how the Lyrics & Feel hit me?) (As-Opposed to "Overly-Macho"...)
The only thing that sorta bugged me, & Ya have to reflect awhile on the Lyrics...there's a tidge of sadness to it...because Singer's STILL sorta Mr Lonely-Guy...at Song's End...
But what's-Heard is so-Pleasant, dunno how many listeners'll catch that. Or Care!
Good Luck with a truly Enjoyable Listen, Amigos!!! Best Weekend Wishes & Matched Pair of Big Guy-Hugs, Stan

Stevie Thanks Stevie, I never thought of the Crash Test Dummies but you are right it kinda does! I was trying to sound like Leon Redbone though! When I originally came up with the tune several years ago, it really reminded me of something he would do. Although it would have to be accoustic to be true to Leon. I tried accoustic, but couldn't get a full enough sound to make me happy, so electric it is! Glad you liked it Stevie, and thanks for stoppin by! Todd

It's a happy go lucky song in the tradition of Lovin' Spoonful (as Little Stevie mentioned). Pretty good listen for this early Saturday morning. Nice collab guys, I enjoyed it, for sure. Do the whistling thing at the end and you can channel What a Day for a Daydream!

Thanks for giving it a spin Dan and I am glad you liked it! This does have an old time feel to it for sure, and that could be why I found it impossible to put words to it. When I saw these wonderful lyrics that Travis wrote they fit like a glove! I just had to come up with a bridge piece. I agree that they compliment each other very well!

Todd/Travis,
No question I would agree that there is a blend of "sesame street and Lovin Spoonful" going on here. For that reason, I think it's fine having all "the lookin at me's" both in the verses and chorus.
What a fun tune, a little more polish with the production and you guys might have a serious song to pitch for the TV market--who knows. It might be a good idea to have a couple more songs that relate to this style to pitch with it. Now start working on the video! Nice unique write--also loved the melody and mood of the bridge--that's where the song really makes you empathize with the fellow.
I like "Stevie's idea" with the solo, but think a clarinet might be the tone of choice for the personality of this song.
Fun tune!
steady-eddie.

Steady Eddie Thanks for your comments and suggestions as always, I'm sure Todd will like to comment too. That Sesame Street tie in was funny, something I never thought of.I can see the Loving Spoonful connection though, similar opening, but completely different story if you mean "Daydream"? Regards Travis

Very conversational, smooth lyrics. Music feels like an older song that you would walk around whistling. No critical comments at all. Good job to both!

Ahh....now this is a movie song! You've put the melody and lyric together, now find a Grumpy Old Men movie to go with it and I believe you've got a hit!!
Really enjoyed it!

This has an old sound to it...which is good , but not commercial. The first verse seems disconnected fro the rest, as there is no mention of the girl the singer is wanting. It looks like the first verse was written and the went in a different direction during the Chorus.
I passed by a schoolyard today Girls watching the guys ball game Reminded me how I used to think Are they're lookin at me
Or something like that

The first verse sets the theme Neil. He's a lonely guy wishing he had a friend /girlfriend. He spots an apparently lonesome kid in a nearbye school yard, which brings back his own days at school and his continuing loneliness since then. Hence the hook "I'm looking at me" Thanks for your visit and comments most appreciated. Travis

I get that but was thinking it could be more strongly related to the rest of the song....Just my take. Good luck with it.

Hey guys. Great, great song here with one of the best opening verses I have heard in a long time. Very simple and powerful and it instantly draws the listener in for the rest of the ride. Another awesome and memorable line is the second line of the chorus "it seems loneliness always needed my company." That's just really nice writing.
I love the fact that Stevie threw out the comparison to the Crash Test Dummies and he's right on as usual. The vocal definitely has that same deep sound and it gives the song additional distinction as a result.
I also really liked the bridge and the "rump pa pum" addition. Very enjoyable listen.

Hi Bobby Thanks for you positive comments about the song. Most appreciated.Todd worked hard on the melody/vocal and it paid off.We both thought the bridge came through well and the opinions seem to back that up, Travis
