Remember when we, the general public were watching "free" TV on a limited number of local stations, depending upon whether or not you were in a metropolitan area? Then, congress... doing the bidding of the networks and their cronies, sold us a bill of goods that Pay TV would be better and there would be fewer or no commercials because we would be compensating them for that with our monthly cable payments. Another great example of how John Q. Public is screwed and taxed at every turn.
I also pay attention to the number of commercials between breaks and that number appears to be growing, just like Gary pointed out. By the time they return us to our regularly scheduled show... I've forgotten the show or the plot... or both! Heck, I can nearly microwave a pizza during the commercial breaks. I'm going to do my best to buy one of those cheapo new fangled TV antennas, place it as high in my attic or my chimney as possible, aim it at the most stations I can pick up for free... and tell my satellite provider to observe the mistletoe on my coat-tail as soon as my contract expires.
90 percent of the junk we get in our low-end "package" is either junk, Televangelists, Spanish speaking stations or "shows" selling stuff while pretending to be shows. Crap is crap. Enough is enough. It does no good to contact your Senator or Congressperson. They are part of the problem and the networks own most of them and besides, they spend every waking moment running for office in order to stay in power... and in the pockets of the networks.
I tell my kids to please, please... do not provide me with one of those gizmos you talk to for turning off lights, locking or unlocking your doors, arming your burglar alarm system, etc. They are little more than spying devices so big brother can monitor your life... and listen to your conversations. Hell, I may eventually decide to return to getting my entertainment via the local library (if they survive) and nearby radio stations.
God Bless America... we are in deep dish horse-manure... and our freedoms are disappearing rapidly. I don't really believe "The Russians did it!" As Pogo said, we have met the enemy and it is US!
