News From The Fishbowl
We always love to get peak inside the successes of our members as they are
happening. This is definitely the case with our friends and recent additions to
the JPFolks Mentor staff FISHER and their worldwide major label debut that came
out on November 14th. Here is a little note from Kathy Fisher on the day of the
explosion. If Indianapolis is any indicator, where I found both record stores I
visited to be sold out of their CD and awaiting a reorder already, this album
should do very well. By the way, Fisher's Indie Release ONE was our Pop Album
of the Year, and their single "Hello It's Me" was Pop Song of the
Year!
From JPFolks Mentor Kathy Fisher:
Hey Everyone!
So here I sit, the morning of the big CD release...and I really couldn't tell
you exactly what I'm feeling....I've never been through this before, so I don't
know what to think or feel. Some people are asking me if I'm nervous...I guess
the answer is "no," because I feel like we have so much support
around us- just one big fishy safety net (pun intended:)). My biggest concern
right now is doing a great showcase for the label tomorrow night, and making it
to the San Diego in-store on time on Saturday...if we can make it through that,
I'll be taking full breaths again:) But as far as the CD is concerned, I feel
confident that the seeds have been planted by you - via your e-mails to
friends, recommendations to coworkers, calls to radio stations and record
stores - and if we don't get this baby off the ground with that much support
behind us, then it just wasn't meant to fly! But of course you know we plan to
be at 30,000 feet, cruising at a comfortable speed by February 2001...Fresh hot
towel?;) I really don't know how to thank all of you enough for the immense
support you've given over the past year and a half - some of you for over two
years now (since the Great Expectations days)! You've been the light at the end
of many a dark tunnel; the reason to smile on days when everything turned to
"crap"; the incentive to go on when all seemed lost. Or as Katherine
Hepburn said to Henry Fonda in "On Golden Pond," "You are my
Knight(s) in shining armor, and don't you forget it!" I hope you enjoy the
new CD...As always, we will continue to do our best to make you proud!
XOXO
